Who’s That Knocking At My Door?

Thank you one and all for your kind thoughts and prayers for Faeden. After the one seizure, he has been resting comfortably thank goodness. He’s a real fighter. I know he’ll let me know when he’s ready to go to the Rainbow Bridge and when that time comes, I will do what is best for him and not make him linger.

After staying in the house with Faeden a couple of days, I knew I had to get out again when Mountain Man came in at lunch and said:

“Did you know your turkeys are hanging out with me now? They are actually sitting on the excavator while I dig. Those are some crazy birds.”

Well, the photo op had passed and I decided to stay with Faeden but then I heard a racket outside our bedroom.

“We have to get her out.”

Their plan to get me out involved making as much noise as they possibly could and driving the dogs crazy so out I went and, of course, they followed.

And naturally, the guineas decided to take the quicker way of flying leaving the turkeys and me to straggle behind.

Now that I was out, I decided to take a hike in the pasture. My constant companions followed, stopping to shake the rain off now and then.

There’s a magic to mountains this time of year.

Horses graze under lush pines while mists rise around them.

But it’s hard to stay focused on the scenery when you have curious turkeys around. Kind of like being out with your girlfriends.

“What’s that you’re wearing?” as they discovered my zipper.

And even peaking inside my jacket to check out the label. “Who designed that scruffy barn jacket?”

And when I try to make a run for it, they again followed.

But I made it to the house. Oh, no, I hear them. They are back at the door. “Come out, come out, come out.” they are squawking and the dogs are barking so I have to run.

You and your birds have such a good time with life in the mountains. I think that was the way God intended life to be. Out enjoying His creation in all ways. As for me I am fixing man’s creation. The dog gone clothes dryer quit drying. Everything works except the heat. Upon examination I found the heating element open. (Big sigh) It’s off to the parts store for a heating element. So it is with man’s creations.

Have the best day that you can have under the circumstanses.

Where is the Tom turkey? These stories and pics just make me smile. I don’t have guineas and turkeys but I do love being oustide when the weather is cool enough with my dogs or the cats on the front porch. I’m wanting a Maine Coon cat really bad right about now. You never said how your big pumpkins did? Did they make it? Give my love to Faeden

Hello Mountain Woman!
So glad Faeden is holding his own and you are feeling a little better. Getting outside in your beautiful part of the country can certainly take your mind off things. Love your turkeys…I didn’t realize they had such character! Enjoy your weekend as best you can and please give Faeden a little hug for me? Thanks
Maura :)

Isn’t that nice that you have friends??! I like that. I need some turkeys.

I love your turkey stories.

I tagged you the other day with a Versatile Blogger Award because of those darn turkeys. I’m not one to like those silly awards, and I certainly don’t expect you to post it, but just know that I linked your blog because you crack me up with those darn turkeys. :)

Glad Faeden is doing better. You are right–you will know when it is time.

Yes, there IS a magic to your mountains – ALL year long.

Did you purposely coordinate your boots with the turkey’s heads?
