What If?

Thanks everyone for visiting us. For those of you who inquired, there are no cruise plans in the works. Brochures arrive in our mail year after year and I do drool over them but I’m quite content at home. Well, except for the weather. But I’m told it’s part of Vermont culture to complain about the weather.
It’s 8 below and my camera is broken. Instead of heading outside, I decided to goof off on Facebook where I made a discovery that leads to today’s post or my mini-rant.
Why do you blog? Is it to make friends, to hone your writing skills, to share your interests? That’s why I blog but I’ll tell you a secret. I’d love to be “discovered” and have a famous blog. Well what I really want is DIY to contact Mountain Man but he’s already told me he’s not interested. He’s happy being Mountain Man and he has enough to do thank you very much. But I still have my secret wishes and I dream. And one blogger in particular is my inspiration because she has succeeded through her talents and hard work.
And what if my dreams come true? You would be happy for me but others would wonder why. What is it about me that makes me so special? And what happens when those people start to mock you? Wow, would that ever hurt. I’ve received a couple (yes, just a couple) of mean comments that made me cry. But what if I was so successful there were sites on Facebook devoted to mocking me? And what if they used my picture and made fun of the way I look? I’m not sure I could handle it. Well, maybe I could with Mountain Man by my side but it would still hurt.
My favorite quote is by Mother Teresa, “Spread love where ever you go. Let no one come to you without leaving happier.”
There you have it. That’s my rant. Maybe my last one ever. And I do hope the very famous blogger who has been my inspiration decides not to take a break.
Be kind, be positive and let’s celebrate each other as we strive to live our dreams.
Thoughts anyone?

I still say they could do a series on TLC about you and the Mountain Man…People would like it too! I like Mother Theresa’s quote. I never heard it before and it is a good one!
Have a great day!

I think facebook is the devils spawn. Just my two cents. There are some very rude folks over there. Okay, there’s a lot of rude folks on the Internet. I guess it’s because they can say what they want (bully) and really nothing happens to them.
I don’t want to be famous, I just want to have fun.
Have a terrific day.

Mother Theresa’s quote is simple, but superb, but no more so than your own : “Be kind, be positive and let’s celebrate each other as we strive to live our dreams.”
And THAT is one of the reasons I come here often. You and Mountain ARE living your dream, even if that dream sometimes involves ice on the windows and extra wood for the stove. But you’re always upbeat, you’re kind to animals, you have a passion for art, and your write beautifully.
Rant? Pooh! Honey, you need some lessons in ranting!
I began blogging because a small group of internet friends wanted to hear the story of my son’s wedding; I continue to blog to better my writing skills and…well, because I just love it!
Oh by the way…that 72 degree weather we had a couple of days ago? Yeah, it’s gone with the wind that blew through here yesterday. We’re still warmer than you at 45 degrees, but it was such a disappointment to find I couldn’t leave the doors open today!

I do not like facebook. People are so out there all the time…for me I blog. I like the blogging community…after all I met you! And if you want to be famous…heck, man! I want that for you also. I love how your man is so much like my man…we never have to want because they know how to do so much.
If you and MM would like a short vacation….come see us! Fly out…stay for a couple of days and fly back…

Oh, I’m not sure why people say mean things. I think it’s because they’re jealous when other people start to achieve the success that they’re still just dreaming about. So I just tune out those mean people, because I don’t want to be like them. I focus/admire those are making their dreams come true, because it encourages me and gives me lots of inspiration. I’d love for my blog to be famous someday…for good reasons, of course, because it’s always been one of my goal’s to eventually work from home someday. well, people make fun of me already because I walk around with a smile much of the time. My life isn’t easy, but smiling makes life so much nicer for me and the people around me
Also, I can’t control what other people say, but I can control how I react to it..and yes, sometimes I cry too
I love your blog…and Mountain Man has great skills…and able to make so many things..It’s amazing and you are blessed to have each other
Have a great week, Mountain Woman
Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather

I blog for the outlet of feelings, thoughts, and stories. I feel much better telling my tales of wackiness–it makes me feel less alone and nuts when everyone else chimes in and laughs. I don’t need to be a famous blogger because I like to comment back with the “pallies”–all of whom I feel are like friends at this point. In fact, I have met many of the pallies in person and they end up being friends.
If I have over a 100 comments, I don’t know how I could have that personal connection like I do now. I’m happy with my status.
That said, I’ve had a few mean things happen as well. Recently, I had one reader go so far as to misrepresent who he was to play a prank on me–a mean prank, I thought. I was really hurt because I never thought one of my readers would do that and I didn’t find it funny. And it just happened to occur during a really bad week when one of our friends (a 16 year old kid) nearly died in the hospital. And while he didn’t know that was happening, I didn’t think the prank was funny regardless.
So, I guess there are people out there who think being mean is funny, and I have to ignore those folks. I have learned to focus on the good and fun people and to ignore the idiots. Thank goodness there aren’t many of them!

I would be thrilled for you to be on tv!! I started blogging to share our life with distance family…none of them blog much anymore but are all on FB.
But what I found in bloggyland, which I did not anticipate at all, is friends!!
Go meet Linda and Terry in CO!! They are aaaaawesome.
Can I be your FB friend?

I heard about that too (I think from you actually). Too bad some people have nothing better to do than hurt others.

People can be thoughtless, envious, mean spirited and most of all just plain dumb ! The ones that say hurtful things don’t matter, it is the ones who show compassion, a kind word of encouragement , and a genuine smile, these are the people who truly count.
I have a facebook page but anymore I find I rarely visit the site. Everyone hyping their website, hawking their goods and spam, spam, spam. What a rat race.

I would be thrilled for you if you ever become famous, and frankly I don’t understand the mentality of people who hate it when others succeed. Even if a person has a real reason that they don’t like someone, to mock the person and publish their hatred online is ridiculous and only shows what petty mean people they are. They are obviously jealous of this famous blogger. I think a person should never write something online that they wouldn’t say to the person face to face.

I am totally with Chris. The Internet has taken the emotion out of communication. Only 7% of communication is words. The rest is all about voice tonal qualities and body language. To hear someone laugh in conversation is lost in the blog world. What would never be said to person’s face will boldly be written to a person never met face to face.
So why do I blog? My mother was an avid letter writer when they had to be hand written and had penpals all over the world. When she died my sister sent out over 200 letters informing her penpals that she had died. I have inherited her passion for the written word and the communication behind the written word. I blog to keep a written journal of my journey through life for grandkids and great grandkids who some day just might want to know what old grand dad did for fun in the old days. I blog to entertain the reader with real life situations that I hope make their day a little better because they can see that I make mistakes just like them but keep on going anyway. I blog because it’s just plain fun to me to be able to have relationship with folks I would never have otherwise met. I don’t remember that I’ve ever had a bad comment other than a couple from totally off the wall unknown commenters. I totally spaced them off.
Have a great blogging day.

I tend to be an idealistic dreamer, so I blog in hopes of spreading positives. I invite comments, of course, and will delete any that attack people instead of the topic of discussion. I just don’t allow it. I do the same in “real life” too, and am also thought to be off my rocker because I find the good in everything. I do because I look for it and find it!
That said, I am so glad I am not alone and I’m in good company with you and MM!! I visit here to recharge my batteries often!!!
