We Were Headed Home But. . .

. . . the storm moved in blanketing our route with snow and ice.  Mountain Man took one look at the Weather Channel and said “We aren’t going anywhere.”  Oh, well, as the wise Winnie The Pooh said, “Rivers know there is no hurry.  We will get there someday.”

And how better to spend a day than to grab your hiking buddy (Logan) and spend the day enjoying nature.  With the snow falling and the wind whipping, we had the world all to ourselves.  Here’s some of the photos:

Logan always runs ahead and then back to me.  I’m not doing much running these days.

That’s our ranch off in the distance.

The trees looked magical in this winter landscape.

But not all branches faired well with the high winds.

Home again greeted by Toby who had spent the day sleeping in a snow bank as newfies are prone to do.

We ended up with about a foot of snow but thankfully no ice storm and no power outages.  Looks like we’ll be here for a few more days.

I love your snow pictures too. We've been having snow here off and on since last night. Sometimes it's hard pebbly bits of ice and the next minute it changes into fat fluffy flakes that remind me of our wedding day.

Glad you're tucked in safe until the weather changes.

I can't think of a better way to be delayed. Beautiful snow :)
We got it, too! Lost power for about 10 hours. Thank goodness we heat by wood and have oil lamps!
Now it is sleeting-ugh.

Could you pass on the giveaway for Ariat boots on blog? Great giveaway for an awesome pair of boots for us farm gals and guys and even city folk! I know I can't afford to buy these boots right now with J in school and a lot of critters to feed LOL!
Stay warm, friend.

The pictures are awesome! I love the pic of your newfie! Reminds me of our dog, Juneau (he was a Samoyed). He LOVED to just sit in a pile of snow and stay there. He had his snuggly bed in the garage, but, no, he'd rather sit in the snow and have it get piled on top of him.

Hope the weather clears soon so that you can head on home! :)

I think Mountain Man made a good call there. No sense in traveling in a snow storm unnecessarily. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were still in Vermont by the looks of these pictures! Glad you didn't have any power outage.

Thank goodness! I worried about y'all when that storm moved in. We got it, too, and the fear was of ice on top of the snow; thankfully, we seem out of danger of that. Y'all just sit tight and enjoy a few more days of snowy bliss!

That was some storm, I was just reading about Tennessee. Glad MM decided to remain behind for a few days. That would have been some bad traveling weather. Logan and Toby are so handsome!

We FINALLY got a bit of snow yesterday, about 2". I am always fascinated with how the snow sticks to the trees. And it is great to spend the day out in it : )

If you can't get home to your Vermont winter, then it is trying to come to you.

Glad you aren't out there on the roads, though.
