Turkey Tails

Turkeys; they’re not just for dinner any more. I’ve learned they are friendly, curious and the perfect entertainment when spirits are low.

For the first time yesterday, one of them lifted his tail and fanned it out in grown up turkey style. Naturally, I didn’t have the camera with me.

I ran and grabbed the camera and begged him to do it again.

“You want me to do what exactly?”

“Sing you said?”

“There you go. You can do it!”

“No, Mom, I’m getting tired.”

The warmth of a late summer day proved too much. He fell to the ground

And before I knew it, he was fast asleep.

Ah, well, I know he’ll do it again and next time I’ll have the camera with me.

Thanks for visiting me.

Oh your baby turkey is adorable. Now I want a turkey and a rooster. He does seem a little stubborn, tho…or was he just being a bit of a Turkey?

I grew up owning horses, and at one time the owner of the stable bought a herd of mini horses, and as kids we would ride them bareback until they threw us. A miracle none of us were kicked, trampled, or broken. My favorite was called, Dynamite.

Even tho, dogs are my life, now…I miss home on the range! Thanks for the great pictures!

The turkeys are growing so fast. It makes me want to get a few..now.
I know I probably said this before but when I see turkeys it reminds me of years ago when our boys were small. We had neighbors back then..when the little 4 year old boy next door came over to see the animals the grown Bronze male turkey was strutting around the barnyard. The little boy’s eyes widen and he yelled “Darn! What a chicken!!” lol…
Have a great weekend.

How could you possibly eat one of your own turkeys? I could not do that! I would make a terrible farmer.

Too bad you missed it spreading its tail.

Aww…love your little feathery turkeys :) :) :) I’m sure they’ll show off their feathers again soon. The very first photo it looked like the turkey was smirking at you…and deliberately “refusing” to show the feathers :) :) :) Thank God for the blessings of animals to cheer us up and make us laugh :) :) :) It’s in the 60s today :) :) :) Yippeee!!! It rained a little bit yesterday and it’s just PERFECT weather today :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

My sister has turkeys, too. She tells me many fascinating stories about their individual personalities and funny antics. If she sits down on the grass, one of her turkeys–now fully grown, still wants to come sit in her lap!

Many of your posts reminds me of things she’s told me! And I enjoy all your pictures!

Oh you just exhausted the little guy, didn’t you?

Also, I am having a wonderful time imagining you singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the coyote. Seriously, there might be tears of laughter in my eyes!

Well, you know, fanning your tail out to full expansion level takes ALOT of energy, lol, and he just HAD to nap right there (Actually, it reminds me of when puppies play and play and then just can’t do anything but flop where they are and sleep – too cute!!).
Can’t wait to see a photo of it :)
