To Monetize or Not To Monetize

Farms cost money in upkeep even if you are able to do all the work yourself. Add in feed bills and our personal expenses and it is increasingly difficult to sustain large properties especially in Vermont where property taxes on large parcels are in the stratosphere (which is why they are disappearing to development). What to do? Well, I was hoping DIY Channel would come along and hire Mountain Man but that hasn’t happened and no one is breaking down our doors with offers of books and television shows so I’ve decided to do some paid posting. I know people aren’t fond of the concept but a farm has to do what it has to do to survive. I’ve already declined offers for items I don’t believe in such as diet pills but I’m going to accept some. I hope you’ll understand and if you have lots of energy, you could start a write in campaign to DIY saying “I want Mountain Man.”

Thanks everyone for visiting us!

Money don’t grow on trees, cuz if it did you’d be all set up there. As long as your other personal posts are in there too, no one will mind I think. :O)

Oh, I think paid posting is fine, especially if it’s products or companies you approve of. Lots of other blogger friends are doing that to help supplement incomes and such :) :) I’m even thinking about doing that on my blog. I’d be interested to know more details :) :) O h, I’d be happy to write to the DIY channel and ask them to come knocking on Mountain Man’s door…defin itely. Your hubby is a wonder ;) :) Let us know, ok :) :) Extra love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :) :) :)

Go for it. If you need to make extra money then go for it. It won’t both me one bit to see a paid post here and there. I hope you do well.

Have a terrific day. :)

Tough decision to make. I don’t have ads on my blog mainly because I know I don’t have the audience to support them. At a penny a click it would take me a very long time to reach that $100 requirement, or whatever the designated amount is, to turn the clicks into cash. Some really popular blogs with huge readerships fetch several dollars for an ad so in that perspective it would be lucrative.
A farm takes money and so does living. One has to do what is best for them. I doubt that your devoted readers would cease visiting just because there are a few ads in your blog side bar. :)
Wishing you luck.

Good grief, go for it! And just how are you able to TURN OFFERS DOWN???!! Obviously, it’s not Google Adsense you’re talking about here, but then again, you’ve got your own domain. Details, please!

Liek others have said, Go for it. Most bloggers are trying to make a little extra money from their blogs and don’t mind it a bit to have a sponsored post here and there. You’re trying to handle matters yourself and not asking for hand-outs and I commend you.
