The End of The Storm

Last time I left you the storm was still raging and I was headed outside. Why sit in a nice warm house when you can hang out at the barn?

Esme, the mini donkey, decided she’d had enough of her stall and accompanied me on my wanderings.

Lots of snow for a tiny donkey but she kept on going.

Until she made it to the front of the barn. “What exactly are we doing?”

Before bed, I checked my snow cake. Still growing.

But the next morning, the storm had stopped. Mountain Man got busy moving snow. Yes, he used the tractor but he did a lot of hand shoveling as well. After all, it’s Mountain Man.

Here’s one of the piles he made.

And although I can barely stand to leave our farm, every once in a while I have to venture out to get supplies. And you know I have to brag about Vermont scenery.

Because I think it’s the best.

But with Mountain Man driving, my pictures are usually a blur. No stopping, no slowing down. And if you are thinking he looks like an aging hippie, don’t worry, his long hair and beard is strictly utilitarian. He will be shorn in the spring just like the sheep. His hair and beard (so he says) are necessary for warmth.

Wind turbine parts wait patiently at a rest stop. They are being transported to a new project in New York state.

I have to admit the drive is lovely. You think I’m crazy about Vermont?

As we head home, we pass one of my favorite old farmhouses. Gee, I wish Mountain Man would slow down.

Another old barn. This one is much larger than ours.

Home at last, I breathe a sigh of contentment and head out to my favorite place. The turkeys and I braved the snow but we both had trouble. I capture a picture as I fall and my hen decides to imitate me.

Upright again, we went for a short walk.

Today is another day. Never mind it’s 12 below zero. First thing, I run out to the pasture because last night I think I might have seen a UFO. Seriously, maybe I’ve been snowbound for too long but I really think I did. Maybe they came to get Mountain Man who was snoring away sound asleep. Anyway, no signs of a landing and all the animals are still there so I’ll leave you with one last photo.

Stay warm and have a great weekend. Thanks for visiting us and if you’ve ever seen a UFO, please share your experience. And no, I’m not crazy. Or at least I don’t think I am.

You do live in a little foretaste of Heaven! Glorious :) Glad your fall did no damage, but LOVED the picture of the hen!

Sorry that I have no UFO experiences to share.

Beautiful snow pictures. Vermont is a lovely state and so is your farm. I have never seen a UFO, only a couple things that turned out to be a plane or a helicopter! Have a good weekend!

Wow, how beautiful! That’s the thing about snow…if you don’t have anywhere to be, it can be so beautiful. It can serve as a trap if it sticks around too long, though.

That’s a lot of snow. Your mini donkey is adorable and my favorite photograph is the red building. That’s just pops right out at you. Beautiful.

Have a terrific day and weekend ahead. :)

Ooooh, it IS lovely there. Sigh.

I can’t believe that wacky donkey was that deep in the snow!! Everyone at Red Pine Mountain is silly! But that is what I like about you. :)

Gee you could never tell that you really love Vermont and your Mountain Man. It just kind of ozzes out of you all this time. I think it’s great that you are living the dream. Not many folks can really say that’s true in their life.

We here in Nebraska had wind chill temperatures matching your real temperatures. The last couple days have been bright sunshine and actually today it started melting the snow. That’s not necessarily a good thing as the streets get covered with water and then freeze into a sheet of ice over night. It makes for interesting driving in the mornings for those folks that must get to their cubicles and play gopher for the day.

Have a great at home winter day.

Oh! So beautiful. I love the picture of the house. It is the style I think I could live in just fine. LOL

What does your house look like from the front?

I love the bird imitating your fall. They love you.

Vermont is beautiful and, one of the things that make it so special, is its lack of crowds and the spectacular scenery.

Thanks for suggesting that I look on Etsy for fabric. I didn’t find that one but I found so many cute alternatives. I will share the finished curtains on my blog after my kitchen remodel is finished.

When I glanced at the first picture of Esme, I really thought it was a little fluffy rabbit sitting on top of the snow and then I looked more closely.
Esme is like me and needs longer legs. :)

The photo of the red building against the white landscape, surrounded by lovely pines or firs dusted in snow…it’s pretty enough for a Christmas Card.

In the photo of the wind turbine parts, I noticed some strange squiggles in the sky…perhaps trails from a UFO? No I’ve never seen one but I will continue to look. I’d hate to think that God created such an immense and astounding universe and didn’t fill it with many forms of life.

Snow is beautiful….but sure wish it didnt make such dangerous conditions for all who must be out there!! I would love to visit your Vermont….but I chose summer or fall!!!

No UFO info here. Tho…..A couple weeks ago the boys and I were out and about in the evening. My son was driving so I could enjoy the ride….and there was a HUGE fireball at the end of a shooting star!!! It looked to have landed in the nearest field tho I am sure it was much farther away than it appeared.
I did check out the news the next day to see if there was a plane crash because I had never seen anything like it!
Thankfully there was none. Just a shooting star!!
It was sooo fascinating and out of the four of us I was the only one to see it!! The boys missed out big time.

Now THAT’S a snow cake!!

Hmmm, I’ve not had any UFO sightings, but I’ve seen too many strange and unusual things to discount UFOs. My dad had a UFO story that he told me. There is a lake in Florida called Star Lake and he and my uncle would go down there at night and see these strange lights darting around the night sky, moving like no airplane or star could. He said once, one of the lights hovered above the lake (too far away to tell what it was) and then shot straight up and disappeared. Strange but true (so he claimed!)

I love your site! I haven’t been by in some time so it may not be new to anyone but me. It’s gorgeous!! And the pictures of the snow and blue sky. Breathtaking. Thanks for sharing!!
