The Chicks Are Here

I thought you’d like to see photos of the new babies. The picture quality isn’t so good because I learned last year baby chicks do best under a red heat lamp. Heat lamps have to be on continuously in a brooder and there is something about red lights chicks find more soothing which means less fighting and less pecking on other chicks.

The black chick in the front is one of the Buckeyes.

And I thought you’d like to hear them because they are just so adorable. Gotta run back to the babies. Thanks for visiting us!

yeah the red light is good for the babies. When I worked in the feed store industry I learned that the red lights heat objects, and the white light will heat the area. So the red light will heat the little bodies LOL they also do help a lot with picking. Especially with turkey chicks!

You have to be proud of your efforts–and those of Mountain Man as well. What beautiful little animals and the sound effect makes it even nicer. Thanks for letting us be a part of this wonderful happening.

That is so cool Sara, it brings back a lot of memories of when I was growing up on the old farm. We used to have 2 to 300 at a time.
