The Changing of The Guard

For everyone who is wondering how Faeden is doing, he is resting comfortably. Thank you so much for your prayers and well wishes for him. I believe they are making a difference.

After so much worrying, I thought I’d just be silly today and I’m warning you turkeys are featured for those who have had enough of the critters.

Mountain Man has left for another marathon work session in the Ozarks. And as he always does when he leaves, he left Lilly, our most protective German Shepherd in charge of farm security. Or so he thought. However;

Remember when the turkeys looked like this?

They aren’t babies any more. They are big and strong and ready to take over.

The first thing they did after Mountain Man left was to proclaim they were in charge.

And it’s a good thing because a certain rooster has taken an unhealthy interest in me.

But my turkey protectors will not let him approach me.

They take their job seriously and follow me to the house. Are you okay?

And when they feel it’s necessary, they call in reinforcements

to fend off the imminent approach of the enemy chickens.

And when I decide I need to use the car, I find them checking it out. “No roosters here. Safe to go.”

And I’m allowed to proceed. Escorted of course.

And if you are wondering about Lilly. She’s taking it easy and enjoying her time off.

And that is life on Red Pine Mountain at the moment. Thanks for visiting us.

Oh my, that makes me want a tom turkey. He is gorgeous, if that word can be used to describe a turkey. The roosters are very colorful. You are living the country life for sure. Give that darling Faedon some lovin from me and my babies. Hope MM doesn’t have to make too many more of those trips. I just love reading about the adventures on your mountain.

That is too funny. Soon you will have tourists stopping by to see if there is some sort of changing of the guard ceremony to watch.

I have to join Lin in asking … are you going to be able to eat them?
