Tails From The Backside

Easter, a beautiful day to grab some dogs and go for a hike in the woods. But after feasting on chocolate bunnies, I discovered I’m not quite as quick when suffering from a sugar high. So while my intrepid Mountain Man forged ahead, two german shepherds in tow, all I saw were tails and and the backside of my Mountain Man. Here, from the rear, is some of our outing today.
Lilly and Logan and Mountain Man forge ahead of the very slow moving Mountain Woman.

“Hey Dad, can’t you slow down for the girls?”

We climbed over lots and lots of fallen branches.

Lilly searched for treasures in the mud.

Logan always kept up with Dad.

Hurry up Mom!!!

“Hide and Seek anyone?” Lilly asks.

“Can you walk any slower?” my Mountain Man wonders.

On we hiked. I almost expected to see Hansel and Gretel.

The only sign of life was an old tree stand.

Up and down hills we went.

Fording streams where I quickly discovered my boots had a hole.

Whew, we made it back to a trail.

Where I discovered I had run out of room on my memory card.
Home, safe once again, I’m letting the chocolate settle and Mountain Man is busy cooking an Easter feast. And that my friends is how we spent Easter on Red Pine Mountain. How was yours?

We’ve have a lovely day here. Beautiful weather, a great walk and a yummy dinner with friends and family. Plus we had homemade waffles for breakfast and a lot of chocolate.

Well, I spent it helping my oldest with an outline for a research paper. I have to say, that I would much rather be walking in a forest…much more fun
Have a Happy Easter!

We had a beautiful day here too! After we did two puppet presentations for the kids at church Gerard took Abby for a walk and I gave the cats some special Easter treats. We gave Abby a nice big beef bone she devoured while Gerard watched the Celtics beat the Cavs. Then Abby, Gerard and I took about an hour walk just around the neighborhood. Gerard is off tomorrow so he’s very relaxed for a change.

That’s a hike I’d want to go on!! Especially for Easter! Happy Easter!
We went to Pismo Beach… While I’m not really fond of the dunes and dirt bikes, everyone else had a great time. I’m more of a forest and grassland babe.

Hello Mountain Woman! Thank you for stopping by my Blog today..it was nice to see you! Oh how I miss living in mountains when I see photo’s like these….I love the feeling of being alone in the woods and exploring. You and Mountain man are so lucky. I love your other place in Missouri too…I love that State and Arkansas. You have such beautiful shepherds…do you breed them? Thank you so much for sharing your walk this weekend with us. I’m afraid we just worked on fencing and tilled up garden space for the veggies…I hope we have more veggies than grass but I have this sick feeling that it won’t be the case. Oh well…next year will be better. I’m just so glad to be finally living on a farm! I hope you have a wonderful day. Take care. Maura

Yep, I know what your sayin’! Sunday afternoon we were movin’ some cattle from the bottom pasture to a hill top pasture and we had a donkey escape in this process. This Ozarks farm chick ran these hills and hollers for and little while then the bunny downer kicked in! Do we know how to have fun after church or what??? Heeehehehe!
God bless ya’ll from the hills and hollers of the Missouri Ponderosa!!!

Our Easter was spent with the whole lil family together feasting on our daughter’s favorite meal for her birthday! Runzas and strawberry dessert. We did break into the chocolate covered almonds later but not too much.

Shirt sleeves! Warm enough the dogs are panting..I am so jealous. But maybe we will get some warmer weather here soon, or at least someday.
Happy Easter!

Looks like a perfect day!
We were able to relax and visit with family on Sunday after church. We prepared dinner on Saturday night, which made for a nicer (and easier!) day. We had Easter Monday off as well and it was a fabulous day. Our first bike ride of the season and lots of kite flying.
Be well ~Andrea~
