Snow Horse

Finally, we got some snow! The trees are covered with ice and it’s breathtakingly beautiful. I decided to wander to the top of our pasture to take some photos and enjoy the view. I had no idea I’d have company but Khrysta saw me leave and decided to tag along. I tried to take some videos for you. They aren’t the best because it’s dark outside and snowing so my lens was wet but we both had a great time.

It’s like she’s in water and pawing like they do in a stream or pond. Very charming and it made me smile from ear to ear. I have never been in snow with horses. I can only imagine the new challenges with that! The darkness makes your horse kind of seem like a ghost too.

Your horse is beautiful! I loved watching your videos of him. I’m glad we don’t have snow yet here in Cleveland. It looks like you got quite a bit.

Oh nice, I like them…looks like home. I think the snow dark is very Christmasy.

The first one shows how much you trust her…I’m scared of horses.

The second one, my old dog used to get moles and their nests under the snow like that…but pounced more like a polar bear trying to break the ice.

3rd one looks like a really happy horse.

I never thought of this until now (I’m horse dumb), what would she do if she saw a deer in the distance ?

You should make some more…I really like them. Vimeo.com is good.

Thanks everyone for stopping by. Julia, this was our first real snow and I hadn’t seen her pawing before. It was quite a thrill.

Karen, I didn’t know you all didn’t have snow. P.S. – Loved your Friday post!

Tracey, I wondered how she would do in the snow. I even thought about boarding them but Mountain Man convinced me they’d be fine.

Alan, I trust this horse. I don’t know if I’d have the courage to stand like that for just any horse. It’s been a relationship that’s grown on both our parts and I sure can relate to being scared of such a giant animal. I loved the story of your moles. Are you still getting a dog?
As to videos, I can’t do much with them because of having satellite internet and an upload and download threshold and if I meet that (easy to do), I’ll be bumped down to dial-up speed. I’m going to check out Vimeo.com.

Alan, I forgot to answer your question about deer. Their pasture sits on the edge of a wooded glade and they have deer visiting them all the time. The deer just jump over the fence and graze with the horses so although at first the horses were startled, now they are used to deer.
However, it’s hunting season and the deer have disappeared :)
