Saying Thank You To Our Troops

Hello Everyone. I hope this post finds all of you safe and sound after the devastating storms. My prayers are with all of you.

On to the topic of the day; saying thank you to our troops and in particular my nephew and his fellow servicemen and women.

My nephew, Josh, is stationed in Afghanistan. He left behind a new wife and a loving family to serve his country in the midst of a war. Imagine what it is like to wake each morning and find yourself in the middle of a war zone far from all the people you love and all that is familiar. Think about the strength of character it requires to be in that position for months and months. No creature comforts, none of your loving family. They are there because they are patriots who believe in service to our country.

You might not agree with the war but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t go out of our way to thank our men and women in uniform. It is their lives on the line each day as they fight for freedom. Anyway, I’m packing up a box of goodies for Josh and his fellow soldiers and I’d like to include your comments. You don’t have to know a service man or woman personally to say thank you. Just a brief note makes such a difference in their lives.

So I would please request you write a greeting for Josh and his fellow soldiers in my comments section, as short or long as you desire, and I’ll include them with my care package.

For all of you who decide to participate, you have my heartfelt thanks and gratitude.

Josh, there isn’t a day that I am not grateful for what you are doing there (and everywhere in the world)! I hear reports on the morning news, and I want you to know that they do not go unheard or taken lightly. We are sending love and prayers, hope for your safe return and a peaceful world someday soon. Keep safe, my friend!

Josh and company,
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much for the sacrifice you make each day to fight for our country. I can’t imagine what being in a war zone every day would be like. I am so grateful not to have had that experience! Looking forward to the day when our troops can finally return from over there. We salute you!

I was born to an infantry Army family 66 years ago at Ft. Benning, Georgia. My father retired as an Army full colonel about twenty years ago after doing three tours of duty in Viet Nam. I married an Air Force captain ( disgraceful, my father teased me ) who left after he made major and went to work for Boeing. My oldest son has been in the Air Force reserves for nearly twenty years and is about to make tech sgt.

When the budget was still up in the air and there was still about not paying our troops or their families, I wrote my first letter to Congress. I felt that members of Congress could forfeit their pay but, in no way, should our military and their families be deprived after all the sacrifices they make on a daily basis, for us, and for others in this world.

I cannot thank them enough for their service, for their continued loyalty to our country, for their willingness to help other countries when I know they long to be home with those they love. I pray, daily, that the Lord watches over them and their families and brings them home safely when their tours of duty are over. They areto be cherished and held close in our hearts!

To Josh & Friends;
Words cannot begin to express the gratitude I feel for the servicemen and women of this country. I have two young boys, ages 7 and 2. You are helping to keep them safe and free. Please know that there lots of Americans who appreciate all of you. And it takes a lot of courage and character to do what you are doing (and I’m sure we do not know half of it).

My prayer for you all is that our Heavenly Father have his hand upon you….guiding you. May the blood of the Messiah, Jesus, that was spilled for us blanket you and protect you.

God bless you all,
Dawn & Family

Yes – All the men and women who enter harm’s way for the sake of our country are to be thanked and thanked some more. One could wish for greater discretion and judgement on the part of our political leaders that send them into danger. We can pray for the members of the armed services and urge Congress to honor them and their service.

It will be a great day when all our young men and women can return safely home from the turbulent middle east countries and be back with their family and friends. Until then people like myself are so appreciative of all of their sacrifices. May God bless them all and keep them out of harm’s way.

Perhaps some day there will be no tyrants, no religious fanatics, no prejudices and no reason to wage wars. I keep praying for that day.
