Say It Ain’t Snow

Don’t you just hate it when your husband is always right? I’m talking about Mountain Man’s insistence spring won’t arrive before April 15th. Our news issued this report: “Winter Storm Warning on April 1st and It’s No April Fool’s Joke.” And after one day of beautiful weather in the 40s without a gale force wind blowing me over, it looks like this

Estimates vary. Some say we’ll get 2 feet. Others say 4 inches. Whatever amount, it’s too much.
I can’t stand it any longer. I’ve run out of patience. Will we never see grass again? Oh, well, what to do when it’s snowing? There’s only one thing that can cheer me up. Animals.
Maybe you read about Einstein the mini horse turning one the other day. He’s a cutie pie. Smallest miniature horse ever and born weighing only 6 pounds. I read he’s now 20″ and if that’s the case then he’s about the same size as Ms. Mayari who stands 21″ at one year. She’s a petite princess whose favorite sport is a game called “zoom” which means she runs and no one can catch her until she’s good and ready. Why is she running in an indoor arena you might ask? Cause the snow is over her head at the moment. White horse + white snow = missing mini.

And, no, she doesn’t weigh 45 pounds, (she has a tiny winter hay belly at the moment but who among us ladies doesn’t?) but I can pick her up if I have to. Yes, you would hear me grunt and complain about my aching back but lifting minis is way more fun than lifting weights and better exercise too cause they squirm. Oh, and I’m short, “Midget Mountain Woman” Mountain Man says but Ms. Mayari doesn’t even reach my knees. Well, to be more accurate she’s the height of my friend’s Labrador retriever.

And she’s just as cute from behind with her adorable little rump. My camera battery died but I’ll take more pictures for you. I think if Einstein becomes a movie star, Ms. Mayari would make a perfect love interest for him. But he’d have to catch her first. She’s fast.

And if you prefer something bigger, there’s the mini donkeys. Donkeys are so loving. They follow you everywhere.

And come in different colors. Dear Ms. Esme Donkey is going to be a pin up girl. Yes, she’s going to be Miss January next year. The photo of her snow diving was selected in a national donkey calendar whose sales will go to donkey rescue. I’ll have the calendars for sale in the summer. And while I might have had dreams of being a calendar girl when I was a teen, my beautiful Esme is making her Momma proud.

But maybe large equines are your style. If so, what about a Tennessee Walking Horse that waits patiently for you to mount?

But if horses and donkeys aren’t your idea of fun, what about a flock of crazy birds?

Okay, I’m rambling but here’s my excuse

And only spending time with animals can cheer me up.
Thanks for visiting us one and all and remember if you leave a comment, you not only make me smile but you raise money for good causes. Hoping your life is snow free!

You got to love winter to live where you do. You would just have to. I hope you get some spring soon.
Have a terrific day and weekend.

We only have a few sloppy snowflakes here in the Champlain Valley. Looks like we finally escaped winter. Seems like Mt. Man was right again – and I don’t really know what is like when my husband is right as I don’t have a husband – but I am usually right – ask my wife

Well, yeah, there’s animals…or there’s always poetry (the other NEK occupation). I thought you might like THIS ONE

I’ve been thinking of you since I got to West Sacramento on Wednesday. Am visiting my son and his lovely wife for a few days. We’ve been out walking in his neighborhood in the evenings after the 80 degree temperatures are a little cooler. His two dogs enjoy getting out and I’ve loved seeing all the blooming trees – mainly the fruit trees though many others are full of leaves and, of course, flowers are in full bloom. I was horrified to see, on the news, that you all were having another snow storm. It’s so hard to believe. Thankfully, for the time being, our rains have stopped. I was shocked to see the Sacramento River at nearly flood level,
with trees covered up to nearly the tree tops in some areas!

Such sweet photos. I’ll take them all, I think! All except the snow. :-p Seven inches were forecast for Upstate New York, but we didn’t get a flake.

What a incredible menagerie you have, no wonder you’re never sad for very long.
Oh and kudos to Ms Esme, not many donkeys can say they’ve been a calendar girl.

Congratulations to your Esme donkey on making the donkey calendar! That’s awesome. She is very cute! I always enjoy seeing all your farm animals too. Those mini horses look like more my size. Hope your snow goes away by May!
