S.A.D.

Hi Everyone. First to answer Darrell’s question about the pine Mountain Man is using for our closet. He wondered if it was knotty pine. It’s actually our white pine from our mountain, #2 grade to be exact, which means full of knots. You would never find this wood in your local stores because it isn’t considered good enough due to its flaws. How far we have come when we don’t acknowledge how much beauty exists in nature’s flaws.

Oh, well. It’s been snowing, every day since I last posted. In fact this weekend, we picked up another 4 feet of snow in one day. 7th largest storm in Vermont’s history.

I have to tell you I’m struggling to get through the tail end of this winter. I’m suffering from cold and lack of sunshine and so much white stuff all over making basic barn chores difficult. The horses are sick of it, the chickens are on strike and the turkeys and guineas never venture out. Mountain Man shovels and shovels and shovels some more and the darn white stuff keeps on falling. And it’s cold.

It could be worse. No tornadoes here, no loss of life or destroyed homes, just snow. Lots and lots of snow. And no sun, not a glimpse in the sky yet.

I’ve decided to take a break for a while. Perhaps it will be a couple of weeks, perhaps it will just be a day but at the moment I’m not feeling inspired and I’m tired of taking pictures of snow.

Stay well everyone. I’ll be back when the sun starts to shine.

I sure feel for you, and I thought we were getting the bad weather! We are supposed to get major rain on top of the 20 inches we have which means major flooding. You take care and we will hear from you when your up to it. We all understand.

Sorry to hear you have the blues … having spent a couple of winters in upstate New York near Buffalo, I understand how too much snow can wear on you. I hope it melts soon and things lighten up. Hope to see you again soon.

I can so relate. I have the same problem if I don’t get enough sunshine. I hope the sun comes out for you soon.

Have a day filled with sunshine. :)

Four feet? I can’t imagine! Will you have flooding problems when all this snow melts? I’m not going to complain about the inch we are supposed to get tonight! Ok maybe a little because like you I am so over winter!!

As you can see we all understand. This winter has been a harsh one and it refuses to relinquish the calendar to Little Miss Springtime. Sure hope Mother Nature steps in soon and tells Old Man Winter to call an end to the snow and ice and dismal, dark, days. I think you need a treat, a nice cozy fire, a wonderful book to read, a cup of hot cocoa and maybe a nice chocolate chip cookie or two. :)

I pray that it won’t be much longer before you start to see cheerful little crocus popping their colorful and pretty heads up out of the snow.

Hang in there, Sara! The days are getting longer here and the frogs were actually sitting outside of the pond yesterday–signs that warmer weather and sunshine are on the way. I even noticed that the snowdrops and crocus that I planted are coming up!!! Hooray!

Get out in the woods and look for signs of life. They are there and you will see that winter is coming to an end. Okay—so you may have to look really hard, but it IS ending…..someday. :)

Will miss ya while you are gone.

Oh, I can totally relate to this post. When I lived in Norway, I remember in winter it was so hard. I really struggle dwith sadness and I think it was literally because the daylight hours were so short. It would be pitch black until 10 a.m. and then dark again at 4 p.m. I burned a LOT of candles during that time !!! Hang in there. That snow will eventually melt away and just think how glorious it will be when that sunshine finally returns :) :) Extra love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

Wish I could send you some of our sunshine! We had poring rain last night and today. Cooler tonight and some counties will be in the 30s on Saturday. Then we warm back up to the 80s. I like the low 70s personally with no humidity. Sending warm thoughts your way!

P.S. I have been a very bad blogger of late. FB takes up too much of my time.

Oh dear Sara it sounds like ‘cabin fever’ has set in. I remember well how that felt when I lived in the mountains of British Columbia. Some years it seemed like spring was NEVER going to come…but it did. One year though…we got snow on Nov 7th which stayed and we then had a VERY bad year with lots of snow and come June we still had a bit of snow where it had fallen off the roof on the north side of the house. The first week of April we were shoveling the snow off the garage roof for the second time that winter. So I know what you’re going through. Here in Kansas we think we have it bad…we have no snow although we did have some but it’s been gone for a while now and it’s been a chilly winter. Thank heaven’s for the wood stove! Hang in there…spring will soon be arriving at your neck of the woods and everyone will be happy again. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi you!
My S.A.D. Had turned a small corner..
But am back to light therapy again. Vita D, exercise…pitts! certainly rough to make yourself do the right things…laughed when you ate another cookie..but know all too well, the compulsion that makes me do that seems real.

While it looks beautiful from here in Oregon, I know its probably still not bright enough to make up the light deficit..need sun on snow, for that!

Please know I’m praying for you, and understand. Be easy on yourself, it is real, and you will feel better soon enough. We shall both transform, like gorgeous butterflies!
I’m very happy you got out for that walk, and have that mudd
room to come back into. That is a thing of beauty!

I needed to catch up with you…I’ve always appreciated you, and you lifesyle and love style~
