Thanks everyone for your comments. I’m still not much in a writing mood so it’s another video day. I’ve been remiss in catching all of you up with Mountain Man’s doings. This summer he went back to work on the house in the Ozarks and got quite a lot accomplished.
Remember when it looked like this?

And this?

Now the kitchen looks like this
Here’s more of his work. This video shows the breakfast bar he made as well as the window trim.
He’s also made hardwood flooring which will be put down throughout the house. Here’s the old floor he’s ripping up.
Getting ready to put down the new flooring. He put down a rosin paper liner plus plastic to help control moisture. The new flooring sits over a basement that tends to be damp and he doesn’t want the dampness to permeate the wood.
Here’s the new flooring. Because he had to transport the flooring from Vermont to the Ozarks, he didn’t want to oil it at home so he hand oiled the floor after he put it down in the house. You can see where he’s started to oil it in this video. The wood stove will be set on tile Mountain Man is going to install on his next trip.
He also changed the exterior of the house. We wanted a more spacious living room and a dedicated entryway so he demolished the old, ramshackle front porch and captured that space for the living room and a new entryway. Here’s the new entryway and a coat/storage cabinet he built.
I know some of you expressed concerns about the front porch disappearing. It was very narrow and because it was built across the entire front of the house, it blocked light from coming into the house and made it drab. We did put a wonderful new porch on the back and a small sitting porch in front of the new entryway.
And for those who worry about trees being logged, please don’t. Mountain Man never logs unless he has a specific purpose for that tree and no ancient trees are ever logged. You can walk in our woodland and it is pristine. No big logging equipment is used and above all, Mountain Man has respect for the land.
I hope you enjoyed today and if you’re looking for a new home in the Ozarks and want to have the ambiance of Vermont woodworking, please consider this ranch. I can guarantee you no one else in the Ozarks will have handcrafted wood interior straight from the Northeast Kingdom.

You have by far the hardest working husband I have ever heard of! I wish my husband had half that ambition!! Lucky lady!!

Oh my gosh! Its gorgeous! We have so much work to be done around our house and I just don’t even feel like moving the furniture so we can rip out the carpet and put something else down. Mountain Man totally rocks!!

Wonderful videos. The wood in the kitchen cabinets if gorgeous, I have always admired wood that had character, guess that why I choose Hickory for my own cabinets.
Mt. Man is certainly amazing, he is such an expert craftsman and he does everything to the ninth degree. Every detail thought out and executed to perfection. Your Ozark home is going to be beautiful.

He’s done a masterful job on this home – a real labor of love. I would think it would be hard to part with except that you have such a lovely life in your part of the world. Anyone who buys it will have a treasure.

Looking great! Those are the prettiest wood floors I think I have ever seen. In the spring and fall there is a Parade of Homes in Lakeland featuring new homes and remodels. Their flooring can’t hold a candle to what he has done with the Vermont wood! Kiss Faeden for me and a hug.

Hello Mountain Woman! Your Mountain Man has done a wonderful job on this old house…everything looks wonderful! What kind of wood is the floor and what did he use on it? He’s definitely a hardworking fellow…reminds me of my hubby. I hope your weather is still good. Have a wonderful Wednesday. Maura
