Not Out of the Woods

Well, just when I thought I was fine again, it turns out I’m not.
Sunday morning, I woke up with an itching hand. Once again, it was no big deal and I didn’t pay much attention to it. Sunday night, when I went to bed, the itch became unbearable. If I could have peeled my skin off, I would have. This was no ordinary itch. It burned, it stung, and it only got worse. I tried Benadryl and it had absolutely no effect. Next thing I knew my feet were itching. I spent the entire night in agony not knowing what to do. Monday morning, I discovered hives over my entire body.
Off I went to the doctor.
Diagnosis: sulfa drug reaction. He took me off the antibiotics, put me on two types of antihistamines with orders to drink lots of fluids and rest. If the hives become larger or start to peel, I might have to go into the hospital to have I.V. fluids and medicine.
I’m okay this morning. Still itch, itch, itching and trying hard not to scratch.
It’s been quite a month so far but I’m hanging in there.

Ooohh my, I hate itchy stuff. I hope you get over it soon. Sorry to read that the trials continue.
Hope you get happy trails soon!

Oooh, how awful. Sure hope the antihistamines help and you don’t have anymore bad reactions. I’ll pray for your itching to go away.

I love your header! What a sky shot!
O, poor you! I wish I could come over and help you somehow. (Of course if you are like me you would perferr not to have people come help) Still I am very worried about you and hope this round of meds helps and you can get back on your feet for sure.

That sounds awful. I hope that you recover soon and don’t need to go into the hospital. Take care of yourself.

Drink lots and lots of water. I mean really lots, so you are peeing every half hour. It will help flush it out of your system. Your skin especially on the bottoms of your feet may sheet off. It happened to me with Sulfa drugs also. I am very sensitive to ingested stuff, foods and medications. It is no fun, my thoughts are with ya and some prayers too:)

Itching is definitely one of the worst things to have to suffer with. I’m so sorry you’re going through this and hope you’re doing better today. You’re in my prayers.
I’m glad you noticed that I gave you the Lemonade Award, and I’m sorry I hadn’t left you a comment about it more quickly. I went to bed right after making the post about it and have been leaving the comments this morning.
Anyway, you definitely deserve it and I know God sees your gratitude even through your suffering and He honors that. You are being given the privilege right now to “fellowship His sufferings” (Philippians 3:10). In a small measure, He is sharing with you the pain He suffered by taking on the sins of the world in the Garden of Gethsemene and on the Cross. That may not help you right now, but I feel compelled to share it with you. I know God will see you through, God bless!
