Karen Zemek tagged me to share eight random things about me. I have participated in several MeMes latelty so I thought this time you would like to learn more about Mountain Man.
1. He was born in New Jersey and lived in the same house until he left home. His father is still living there. His Mother passed away many years ago.
2. After college, he obtained a Masters in Education and was a high school teacher for ten years.
3. He bought a house as soon as he started his teaching job and because teachers’ salaries were not enough to cover the mortgage, he also worked at Roadway Express on nights and weekends loading trucks to make ends meet.
4. He is a Giants fan.
5. He does all the cooking.
6. He started making furniture when he was a child. We have a desk and a table in our home he built when he was ten. Here’s a picture of the hutch. Pretty amazing, don’t you think?
7. Over thirty years ago, he went on a vacation to Vermont and decided he wanted to leave New Jersey and live in a more rural area and work with the land.
8. He builds cabins and barns and houses that blend in with a rural Vermont landscape. All of his houses are built with timber from our land which he logs himself. He then processes the logs himself on his sawmill and then finishes them in his shop. Here’s a picture of a camping cabin he built last year. He’s building a barn for them now and that is why our excavator is parked there.
I’m not going to tag anybody but if you’d like to participate, feel free to do so.

I love Mountain Man’s cabin. It looks exactly like the one I had pictured in my head. The one to blend in at the water wheel.
Beautiful..and interesting facts about Mountain Man.

See isn’t that funny, I have had that cabin in my head also. And I think this is what Gar is picturing in his mind for when we move up to Armstrong, and start our little farm. It is very lovely. If a cabin can be described as lovely. Or handsome?
Your mountain man sounds very competent, and creative.

Wow, Mountain Man is very talented. My dad used to do woodworking and he started out when he was a kid too. I have an end table that he made when he was in high school. That hutch is beautiful as well as the cabins – I would so love to live in one – I love the rustic charm and living in Vermont sounds lovely.
