Mountain Man Mondays; Singing the Lonely Blues

I’m alone once again. My most excellent son and his fabulous wife have departed back to the big city along with my granddoggie, Jack. Their leaving was bad enough but now my Mountain Man has run off as well; back to the Ozarks to work on the house. Before he left, he decided to build the cabinets for our new bathroom so here’s the photos.Finished with the framing. This is the door to our tall cabinet.
This is the framing for one set of the drawers.
I couldn’t believe how long this entire process took and what meticulous attention to detail it required.
Mountain Man oils the wood.
The oiled pieces laid out to dry.
Mountain Man wanted you to know this is the only oil he uses and recommends.

Mountain Man decided to pull an open trailer this time but he needed a place to store his tools. Solution, he built a box to fit over his trailer. He tried to get me to lift it onto the trailer with him but when I couldn’t, he used the tractor to get it in place. I guess I’m not as strong as he thinks. So Mountain Man and two dogs will be in the Ozarks for a while leaving me on Red Pine Mountain with my cranky mare, Khrysta, and 5 dogs. I can’t exactly say I’m alone but I sure am lonely.

Mountain Man! I have not seen him yet and I have to say the title fits! Don't get to lonely! It sounds like you'll be busy with your pets!! Five Dogs, that is more than me!!

I don't know how long MM will be gone but I'd love to spend a week by myself on a mountain top with a stack of good books and plenty of coffee! Everyone needs a little time by themselves once in a while!

Those cabinets look fantastic! He is very talented. I wish I had a tenth of the carpentry skills that he has. As it is, I built a small worktable for my eldest last week and it took me 3 tries to get it right.

I thought you got some biddies this spring. What's happening with them and I thought you were going to go to the Ozarks with Mountain Man. Change of plans?

You are lucky to have such a skilled man who wants to work around your place. New cabinets would be wonderful here.
And so sorry you are lonely! It's hard when everybody is gone. I had about three hours with EVERYBODY gone from the compound and it was weirdly quiet.

gorgeous work on the cabinets! My son is blessed with such music in his hands. Alone time is a difficult transition. It seems just as we get used to a way of life the universe shakes it up for us. And all the others are correct , you have us. ; )

Howdy!
I just dropped by to say thanks for visiting and following my blog, but I ended up reading several of your posts and following you, too! Seems we have a lot in common – weight issuses, true Southerners – and your super talented Mountain Man reminds me so much of my brother-in-law, who my family used to secretly call "Mountain Man!" Yes, he and my sister are practically your neighbors, living on another mountaintop in New Hampshire. When we visited them a couple of years ago, we kept our eyes peeled for moose, but never was lucky enough to see one. We did however, see the BEAR that ambled out into the road just ahead of us in downtown Franconia, New Hampshire! Y'all live in a wild and wooly country!

The cabinet doors look awesome! I agree wholeheartedly with your man's comment about Deft, it's the best. I have enjoyed your blog posts (even though I don't usually comment) and want to thank you for visiting Equine Epiphanies and for your purchase in our Etsy Shop yesterday (on behalf of our four-legged furries

I read your blog with a tear, I miss my mountain man- thats what we used to call him as he was from COlorado. Oddly enough he sported the same beard as yours and would have been doing much the same dressed the same.
