Mountain Man Mondays; Finishing What He Started

It’s oh so hot and humid. I’m languishing on the porch dreaming about the impending fall weather and movement is the farthest thing from my mind but not Mountain Man. He’s hard at work for clients. A few years ago, he built their camping cabin and last year they decided they wanted a garage/storage type building.
First, he dug the foundation and installed a small basement and an ingenious water system below the frost level so the clients will have running water in the winter. Then he did all the brick work. The water system he developed. Still in progress in this photo.
Then, he built the rest of the garage and got the building shelled up before the winter. This summer, the clients decided to finish the structure so he’s back at work.
Here’s some photos.
In Vermont, roof pitches are steep so the snow will run off.

The building was designed and built according to the clients’ specifications to match their cabin. All the lumber came from Red Pine Mountain, cut and processed and finished by Mountain Man. He still has more work to do and when he’s finished the wood will be stained.
Did he have any help with this garage? No, Mountain Man prefers to work alone. How did he lift the walls? With equipment just like he did with our barn:How did he put up the roof? Just like he did with our barn. Big equipment and nerves of steel.
And that’s why at the end of the day, he’s covered in sweat.

I am seriously impressed. I would have pitched a fit if I had to do that alone.

Are you as amazed with Mountain Man's work as I am??? I do not think there are many (if any) people who can accomplish what he does by himself!

I'm a little confused……the little house is a garage/storage building ? Why do they want to have water in it ?
If I ever live in the country again…I'd definitely want a garage…a car means everything in the country.

Sigh. Can I have my own cabin like that one? Pleasepleaseplease?!
I would be doing exactly what you were doing, sitting on the porch and thinking about cooler weather. That's my cup of tea.

Ah I love the garage! We put up a tack shed this week, it leans and looks like something out of a ghost town.
Guess that has its own charm to hehe!
Glad I found your spot, everything looks beautiful.

That's how my dad was, always preferred working alone except he always wore long sleeved shirts no matter how hot it got. Mountain Man reminds me so much of him with his smarts and Know-how.

Mountain man is a man after my own heart, I also have a sawmill and heavy equipment but do not get to spend as much time as I would like using it. I to like to work alone ,but would love to spend some time working with him, but of course you'll will have to move to Kentucky!!

Wow. I am left speechless by his will, determination, energy and strength to accomplish all of that. I think he needs to bottle it and sell it. I would buy it!
Good for him. An honest day's (or many month's) work, is something to be so proud of.
I am envious and happy for you
