Mountain Man Is Not Pleased!

Thanks so much everyone for the comments. I love hearing from you and appreciate the time you take to share your thoughts. Have you watched the Weather Channel today? Have you seen that cloud circling over New England, specifically northern Vermont? We’re having a spring snowstorm; about a foot at the moment and counting.

It started out yesterday morning like this:

And by the afternoon, it looked like this:

I was jumping up and down with excitement but Mountain Man put a damper on my glee. “The ground is too warm. It’s not going to stick.” “But the forecast said.” I kept repeating. “Well, in the higher elevations maybe” Mountain Man conceded “but not here. Forget it.” Mountain Man wasn’t going to spoil my joy. I decided to enjoy the falling flakes.

But the donkeys seem to be aligned with Mountain Man in their dislike of the snow. Infinitely practical, they decided to stay in their stall munching on hay. Why get wet when food is delivered in a nice, warm stall?

Khrysta and Bliss, on the other hand, decided to stay outside. By dinner time, the snow had picked up and I found them huddled in their run in shed.

And I decided to listen to the weather report and not Mountain Man (shh, don’t tell him that) and I called them into the barn and tucked them in for the night.

I went to bed thinking it would be gone by the time we got up but instead I opened my eyes to this:

I started squealing with delight while Mountain Man kept saying “You’re crazy. It’s almost May. Time for this stuff to be done.”

Logan ventured out into the yard.

Toby and Emma weren’t far behind.

I went to the barn to feed the gang and open the stall doors. And, when I did a very tiny horse surveyed a world turned white.

Mountain Man is grumbling and threatening to move us all to a warmer locale, especially after all your comments about beautiful, sunny weather. But I say, “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”

Oh my, I can’t imagine snow when it’s almost May. It’s beautiful, but I’m not a snow kind of gal.

Have a terrific day and stay warm. :)

Unbelievable you should have such weather so late. I do remember having snow in upstate New York as late as May when I lived there. As pretty as it was, two winters of late snow was enough and I had to move.

On another subject, I love how Khrysta and Bliss have become such friends. Please keep pictures and stories about them coming.

I like snow, but I agree with Mountain Man on this one! It’s almost MAY, good heavens! I’m ready for warm weather, I have stuff to do! I live in the Mohawk Valley (Central NY) and we saw flakes but nothing stuck.

Sorry for Mountain Man but it does feel good to be right once in awhile! lol How equisitely wonderful. I’m NOT ready for summer. Everyone here is grousing because the weather is back in the 60′s today. I say Yahoo! Do they not realize it will be 110 before they know it? I’ll take 60′s ANY day.

we have been in the 90s here in the deep south. A nice break today after some rain, but still in the 80s. And it’s not even May yet. I would rather be under 3 ft of snow than in 105 degree temps with 100 percent humidity, and gnats, and fire ants.
I’ll trade farms with ya!

It is pretty as long as it doesn’t stay long. I think the donkeys are smart to eat inside instead of going out in it–cute picture of your baby! I’m with Mountain Man though, it’s time for the snow to be gone! Maybe you should switch from “Mountain Woman” to “Snow Lady.”

Beautiful! Love it! Wish it was here. It was cool last night and again tonight, supposed to be in the 50s tonight, don’t know if it will get that low. It sure feels good to have the windows open and cool fresh air coming in. Sorry about that white stuff, MM!

Very pretty photos. We had snow in April a couple years ago. But it didn’t last long! This year we didn’t even have snow in the winter! The weather patterns seem to be a little mixed up, eh? :-)

It snowed like that here last Friday. Then we had snow again on Monday of this week and then again today. Friday was the only day it actually stuck though. Global warming…yeah, right!

My goodness, I am sure this is interfering with Mountain Man’s work plans! Even in your neck of the woods, it seems like snow shouldn’t be happening at the beginning of May!

MW, I truly like your attitude about the weather. It can’t be changed so just enjoy what you have been given. Here in Nebraska the mushroom hunters are out in full force. This year is a bumper crop year and grocery bags of mushrooms are being found on each outing. We haven’t had snow since March and the weather is actually quite nice. The tulips have blooms their hearts out with the daffodils right before them. The Iris are just starting to crack their blooms and should be in full bloom this week. A cold night here now is lower 50s and day time temperatures are in the 70s.

Your snow picture is gorgeous. The last of the year snow falls are always a gift for me. I like them too as I know they are not going to last long and it’s the perfect way to water the earth. As the snow melts it almost all soaks into the already thawed ground. Enjoy your short lived winter weather.
