Thank you everyone for sharing your comments with me. I’m not sure there is really a way to thank you enough for taking this journey with me.
Have you ever felt as though you are at a place in time where nothing happens, yet every little thing is so precious to you? I think that is what I’m experiencing these days as spring edges into summer. I reach for the right word to describe it and delve into my college days to find the word “quotidian.” I look up the definition and it states “of the most everyday, ordinary kind.” Yes, my life is quotidian.
The horses have fallen into a routine. Mornings are spent lounging by the barn.

And evenings are devoted to grazing up high on the pasture.

The cooler air encourages a game of chase. Bliss is a small dot in front of Cash.

But Khrysta’s long legs soon outpace the minis.

Grass proves too tempting and the games end for a while.

Until Cash starts it again.

And I could stay in the pasture all day observing these equine games but I can’t. I have others waiting for me and I say goodnight and head home.
I check my pumpkins, growing every second, and I long to plant them in the ground. “Be patient.” Mountain Man says. “It’s not time yet.” And I sigh, as I always do when I know Mountain Man is right but patience is so very difficult for me.

My old camera broke and I was lost without it. I needed a new one and it had to be inexpensive and easy. Point and click for those who are photographically challenged. I’m anxious to test it. I run around taking pictures of everything.
Lilly, with her favorite toy.

Mountain Man relaxing on our almost finished porch. From tree to beautiful boards, he’s done it all and his gift takes my breath away.

Faeden, resting in our bed of weeds, which are destined for renovation tomorrow. Another Mountain Man project to be accomplished.

Quotidian, yes, that’s it. Daily, ordinary events that weave a rich fabric of life.

that’s how I like my days too.
Calm, simple, full of little things that are important to my heart.
And, by the way, that little appaloosa baby? You can mail him to me any day.

Your place is so beautiful every time I see new picture I become very envious.
I do look forward to coming up to see both of you this summer but, the only thing is you two are always so busy I would hate to interrupt.

Sometimes when I’m walking in from the fields I feel like I’m not making any headway, although I know one foot in front of the other is taking me home.
I like your new word. I’m makeing it mind today.

It looks so beautiful, you should vacation in Canada if you haven’t already. No more cities in North America north of me…. it’s so big and full of country. Quebec alone looks about the size of 1/4 of the U.S.
Why the delay with the planting of the pumpkins ?

Hello Mountain Woman! What a great word you picked…it’s perfect. Love the pictures of the horses playing but most especially the porch and your Mountain Man taking a well earned break. What a great feeling that must be to have made the porch from ‘scratch’…literally! Have a wonderful Friday! Maura

Oh, that porch…I love that…and Mountain Man built that all himself? Simply amazing. I’ve always a porch like that someday where I can just sit outside and enjoy nature, chat, etc

MW, you do live the quotidian life. I visit the quotidian life at times with a day her and there that is just a day to sit back relax and let the day flow by. A more usual day is filled with new adventures of hauling, helping, fixing, or chatting with friends and family. A light hint of daily routine covers each day but doesn’t govern the day. All it takes is a phone call for a lunch date to be set, or a stroll through the botanical gardens, or a challenge to help build a patio, or a request to haul a new mattress, or just chat a few minutes on the phone to catch up.
I always like reading your blog posts because you have such fascination and joy about where you are in life. It’s always such a positive uplifting read. Thanks for sharing that attitude with everyone.
