Meanwhile, Back On The Farm

While Mountain Man has been busy restoring the barn, life on the farm has continued.

Day after day dawns with beautiful weather.

Although the robins are long gone, butterflies still linger.

And in the woods, the most mundane of objects has a unique beauty.

Miniature horses venture out for hikes alongside German Shepherd dogs.

And views suffused with ever changing light surround us.

Mountain Man stops to repair equipment.

And then makes a discovery while digging with his shovel. He thinks it’s an old agricultural tool but he’s not sure. Ideas anyone?

And I had my own discovery; a bone.

And as I do my chores, my guineas and turkeys follow me everywhere.

And when I stop to take a break, they join me.

No sign yet of leaves changing. No cold weather nor rain to mar these halcyon summer days. An everyday life, simple in its pleasures. But I would choose no other way. May your days be filled with joy and adventure and always remember to follow the path least traveled.

I think that piece that Carl found is off of a tiller of some type.

Just getting caught up here and lovin’ every minute! I can’t believe how all the chicks have grown – so what’s next?

What kind of bone did it turn out to be? And that tool – I have no idea, but the square holes intrigue me. Please let us know if y’all ever discover what it is.

The pics of the horses at play are so much fun!

Gorgeous pictures…always gorgeous pictures!

Oh…yes…halcyon days of summer. I love that phrase and it really feels like that right now here in Oregon :) :) :) I’ve always like taking the road less travelled. It’s much more interesting :) :) :)

Oh, you know what, you should check out the Country magazine website. They also have a page on Facebook. Maybe someone there might know what that tool is that Mountain Man found? That is a mystery that would be really neat to solve!!!

Oh the guineas and turkeys are so cute…and I had to laugh to see the photo of them flying, trying to follow you!!! That’s so sweet. I love those simple pleasures!!! You are good to everyone…human and animal alike :) :) Have a lovely weekend. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

Could it be a plow blade or maybe some sort of shim? That is so funny about the guineas and turkeys following you. A fan club?
You are so blessed to be able to live where you do. I would be constantly taking walks and exploring.

Do you coop your guinea hens up at night? We have five and I haven’t let them out yet – I am afraid they will fly off and never return………

The deep greens are so beautiful.
Is that maybe a piece of a plow?
You should really think about doing a book with your fantastic photography!

The “mystery” object is part of a cultivator. The heads (pictured) are attached to a tool bar which is pulled behind a tractor to weed/clear out the corrugates in the field. The corrugates allow irrigation water to run in rows.
