Masters of Our Own Domain

Big changes are coming to Red Pine Mountain later this summer. We are honored to have a wonderful website designer (more about her later) who is helping me create the blog of my dreams and yes, we are moving to our own domain. There will be many changes but one I’m looking forward to is Mountain Man’s page. I’ll be writing more about him, sharing his recipes, his gardening tips (yes, he’s a master gardener) and more.

But one of my greatest wishes is to dedicate a page to you and I need your input. How can I make you even more a part of Red Pine Mountain? Would you like a page devoted to questions, answers and comments where we can interact? Or perhaps a “Blog of the Week” where I feature your wonderful blogs? Would you like both? Is there anything I can do to make you feel more at home, more welcome? I’m open to any and all suggestions as we prepare for our move.

I like the idea of an interactive page. I have a million questions about Red Pine Mountain and don't want to appear snoopy-but in a way I am.
Your changes sound very exciting

I'm looking forward so much to your changes ahead. It sounds like an already great blog is going to be even better, and it's already fabulous. This is one of my favorite blogs :-) I love the idea of that Mountain Man page and the blog of the week sounds great too.

Good to see you moving over to WP I assume? Ok since you asked I'll say what I like or don't like…
-Blog of the week feature…don't really like those, occasionally is ok.
-Would like to see easy recipes from Mountain Man. I garden really well, but I just hate cooking, especially if they call for ingredients I don't have…so easy recipes I'd try.
-New Design
can't please everyone…maybe ask everyone what sites (design wise) they like and then work from that??? Magazine style? colors? plain ? features? etc.

I love the idea of both! There are so many blogs that I, too, have questions about..would love to see some profiled and maybe the blog owner could even answer questions that are posted for them!

This is the only blog my hubby looks at. he and mountain man are very similiar!

Very exciting for you both, and us too!

How wonderful that you are getting your own domain! A 'blog of the week' feature would be great – or maybe a feature where you interview people who read your blog….

Thanks everyone for such kind words and encouragement. I've gotten lots of great ideas from you.
Cactus, don't be afraid to ask questions. I'm really pleased you are interested.
Alan, thanks for all the feedback. All of MM's recipes are quick and easy because he's so tired at night. I feel guilty he's even cooking.
Misha, I love the idea of interviewing other people.
Lady Fi, I think the idea about interviewing readers is cool.
Thanks everyone who took the time to answer this question. You've all been a great help and given me more direction.

I've been waiting for my new blog design since early April — she promised it early June, and now after asking twice, and being promised "next day", nothing. :-( She just found out she's pregnant, and I told her no rush, but c'mon! I would never promise something next day and not deliver!

Anyway, I hope you have better success with your changes and their timeline to happen! A blog of the week sounds fun; I tried this and did not follow thru. Shame on me!

Your blog is already wonderful, honestly, and I don't think it really needs anything to improve!

It all sounds so exciting. I have always thought I'd like to do something like you are planning, also. I just am so short of time lately.
Good luck with it all.
I like the idea of the blog of the week idea and the question and answer one, too.

Can't wait to see it.
Have a great day.

Hi MM, I have another Mountain Mama blog friend… Do you know her? She's in Utah…

Thanks for visiting my blog. I am enjoying yours—and it looks like your blog is just going to get better. I'm glad I found you!!!!!

About comments, I have so many followers to keep up with that I simply do not have time to return for answers to questions I leave. Most of the time, my blog friends either answer my questions on MY blog–or they email me (which is better).

An interactive comment/question time would be interesting. Keep me posted.

Hugs,
Betsy
