Mamas’ Eggs Are Hatching!

They’ve been sitting in their nest box for weeks and I’ve been counting the days. When I went into check the Moms today, I heard tiny little peeps. Oh, I was so excited. I can’t even begin to describe it. But I didn’t want to disturb the hens and I thought I wouldn’t have pictures for you but they cooperated.

That little grey lump by my mama Cochin is one of her new babies. She was not thrilled at all to have her baby out from under her and I got a quick glimpse before she tucked the hatchling under her body.

Mama Turkey and I have a stronger bond and she allowed me to see her little one and get a good picture before she pushed the hatchling and the egg back under her body.

And a very short video.

I just can’t begin to describe the experience of seeing these hatchlings. I raised the moms from their first day of life and now they are new moms. The cycle of life is just awe inspiring. Well, I’m gushing and I really have no words. Babbling with excitement as Mountain Man would say. But I do feel as though I should be passing out cigars.

Thanks for visiting us. And if you have any name suggestions, let me know.

My how your amazing menagerie of pets … uh er, tame farm animals, have grown. Seems like only yesterday I was reading how you had just gotten notification from the post office that your livestock order was awaiting your pick up.

The circle of life is wonderful and fascinating.

I can just imagine the joy you must feel at having “fowl” babies arrive on the scene. With all the different ones you have, you will soon have to build a deluxe chicken dormitory. Now how do the horses feel about all this attention paid to these guys!!
