Love Under The Pines

Have you ever been in love and had a rival? Well, that’s what’s happening in my pasture at the moment.

The rivals; two young fillies, Bliss and Blossom.

The object of their affections? A handsome older gelding named Cash.

Bliss usually has the upper hand but today she decided to graze with the turkeys and guineas.

Giving Blossom the opportunity she’d been waiting for. “Under this pine tree. She’ll never find us. That’s the place.”

“Hey, Cash, pssst…I’m here handsome.”

And Cash moved in for some smooching under the pine tree.

Their kissing session continued for quite a while.

Long enough for Miss Bliss to notice. “They’re not supposed to be doing that.”

“That’s MY man Blossom. You stop that right now.”

Blossom paid no attention at all. But never underestimate the power of a filly in love. “I’ll just push you out of there you awful Blossom.”

Oh, no, not even the shove of Bliss’ butt could stop the lovers. “I know. I’ll send in the turkeys.”

And sure enough, their arrival distracted Blossom who immediately left to drive the intruders away.

And when Blossom returned to the pines, she found her way blocked by a most persistent Bliss.

I’m not sure who will win Cash’s heart. Will it be Bliss or Blossom?

I agree with Kathy, horses are not monogamous, however great story as usual, you should write a book:
The Fairy Tales Of Turkeys And Other Animals ;)

Sara,

I absolutely love this story! Miss Bliss and Blossom are both precious & lucky to have you as a their “Mom”. Bliss couldn’t have a better home, & I’m always tickled to see pics & stories about her.

I agree, you should write a book! :)

I’m sure those pine trees have witnessed a lot of romantic rendevous.
Oh, well, under your watchful eyes, I don’t think much will go wrong.

Babies in the future??? Cute love story! Just got back from New Hampshire Monday night. The leaves were gorgeous, wonderful cold weather, we had a super fun time! Wish I could have squeezed in a visit to you. They had a moose display at the Kittery Maine Trading Post, it was on loan from L L Bean, made me think of Pete. There were 2 bulls with lucked horns and told the sad story of what happens when they get caught in this position. Huge animals.
