Just Some Pictures

Although the temperature is hovering around zero this morning, it’s finally supposed to start warming.  What a week it was.  Schools remained closed and the roads were deserted as the thermometer  plunged below zero.  Record cold for the Ozarks but Khrysta, the canine kids and I all survived thanks to Mountain Man.  Here’s some photos from the past week.

Khrysta on a cold morning.  Horses need lots of fresh water and the water in her trough was freezing quickly.  Mountain Man and I took shifts cracking the ice and refilling the buckets.  He was kind enough to take the night shift.  Khrysta does have a stall but she chooses not to use it.  Her thick Vermont coat served her well and she did not need a blanket except at night.

The sun rise on a below zero morning.

Our bird feeders were so popular, cardinals had to wait in line.

Icicles hung all over.

Another beautiful sunrise in the cold.

I know all of you in the South and Midwest went through the same thing.  A week for the history books.

We're making history here too. More snow today and more predicted tonight. The UK has had a tough time of it with lots of closings including Gatwick airport for a while.

People are helping their neighbors though and the world feels pretty small and sweet here. Glad you're staying safe and warm.

It seems global warming means not only warmer summers but colder winters as well, Europe has a 'cold wave' too.

I was just thinking the other day how strange it is to hear birds chirping in the winter. I keep seeing robins too and hoping that means that spring is on the way. LOL

I've had my hands stuck in my pockets all week and haven't taken many photos at all. Thanks for these!

Brrrrrr!
We've gotten that blast of arctic cold here in Tennessee, too. I felt so silly last night work at work – we all complained because it was 64 degrees inside the building – until we stepped outside to start our cars…in 9 degree weather! I left a Diet Coke in the car overnight and it was frozen solid. When the heat in the car began to thaw the Coke, the ice rose and the thing slowly foamed all out into my center console. What a mess!
Lovely pictures, as always.

Yes, It was a week for the record books–we were a wee bit warmer today BUT that wind was blowing still making it cold.
We'll see what this week brings.

Have a good one.

Looks sooooooo cold!

It's been a record cold here in Arizona, also.

I keep expecting Manny, Sid and the squirrel roaming across the desert searching for Squirrel's nut! LOL

I can feel the cold but it still looks beautiful. We've been in a deep freeze here in southwest Ontario too. Thank goodness for wood stoves!

Be well!

it figures – you winter in the Ozarks to get away from the cold and it follows you there! We're having the same weather here so I can sympathize. Stay warm

As if we werent cold enough already then the local news goes and tells us we have more snow than Alaska!! Brought on another round of shivers!
Also said we havent had this cold of weather since 1894.
Of course that is just repeating what the tv reported so……..
It was 30* yesterday. Sixty degree difference in 36 hours! Loving it! :)
Of course loving it that the kids went to school and should be able to finally start the new year off now!! A lil quiet a few hours of the day will be awesome!
