Just A Couple More Chick Pictures

I admit it. I’m in love with these baby birds and I’m spending so much time with them, I don’t have much to say but I thought I’d share a couple more pictures with you before I head out again.

They have so much personality even at 2 days old. As to their housing, I learned last year to use newspaper as flooring and then to scatter feed around the floor until they get the hang of eating. Shavings can kill young baby birds as they do try to ingest them and using newspaper helps to prevent spraddle leg. Ahh, they are adorable and I can tell they are Red Pine Mountain chicks because they are already learning to pose for the camera.

One of the most interesting patterns is on the Golden Laced Wyandotte. They remind me of chipmunks with their striping as chicks.

And have you ever seen such an adorable tiny face?

I’m headed back to the nursery. Thanks so much everyone for your warm welcome to our new additions.

They are the cutest little bundles of fluff! Are you giving them names or can you keep track of them yet? How are the adult chickens reacting to them or have you kept them separated thus far? I am full of questions about the little critters.
