Jennets and Fillies On A Spring Day

The snow is melting! All of us have spring fever and the animals are no exception.
Bella tells Esme, “Watch out for Flower.”

Yes, Flower is feeling fine.

Bella and Esme decide to head up the pasture to see if Flower will follow.

And she does. No more snow to stop her. The chase is on.

Bella and Esme decide to take the offensive and chase Flower.

Then Flower and Blossom decide to chase Bella and Esme. Jennets versus fillies.

Round and around they went having a grand old time.

Until the donkeys decided the game was over and headed home.

And I left them tired, muddy and happily munching on hay.

I thought about how wonderful it is to have spring fever, to roll in the mud, to smell new grass and to kick up your heels. When I went into the barn to pull out more hay, I found another sign of spring. A turkey nest hollowed in the middle of my hay bales. How she managed to get into the barn, I’ll never know. But she did. Searching for peace and quiet I suspect.

I leave her egg undisturbed and pull hay from the other bales. Spring is here and it was worth the wait and I feel incredibly blessed to be able to live so close to nature on a farm.
Thanks for visiting us. I hope your weekend is wonderful.

Was such fun to view the photos of Bella, Esme and Flower frolicking in the spring sunshine. I’m sure that there is no place quite like your mountain paradise in the Spring.

Oh, how wonderful to see all that frisky play among your four legged critters. It looks like Spring has really made it’s debut and soon the long johns can be put away for another year!
