It’s That Time Again; Let’s Support Our Troops

We’re all enjoying a beautiful, long holiday weekend.  Perhaps we are already thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas or Hanukkah.  Maybe we’re thinking about the relatives we’ll invite for dinner.  It’s definitely the time of year when family relationships are at the forefront of our thoughts.  But there are many young men and women who will be far away from home for the holidays.  These are our brave young men and women in uniform.  Their sacrifices for us ensure we have the freedom to enjoy our lives.  Let’s let them know how much we owe to them and how much their service means to us.

I’ve been a huge fan of Operation Shoebox for quite some time. The last box we assembled through this blog was a great success thanks to all of you. This time, however, when I visited the Operation Shoebox site, they suggested sending a package to a soldier you already know.

I didn’t have to search far to find the person to support.  Our very own blogging friend, Jessi, is about to be deployed to Djibouti.  Where is that, what is deployment like?  Well, I’ll let Jessi herself tell the story.  You can read it by clicking HERE.

What’s the scoop?  We are going to gather a box of goodies for Jessi and her brave friends.  And we are going to send them notes of encouragement and thanks.  You can participate by doing the following:

Leave a comment below expressing your thoughts and letting Jessi and her friends know how much we appreciate them.  Comments can be as long or short as you’d like.

For each comment I receive, I will add another item to the box. Spotted Cow Soaps has most generously offered to help us get started by providing me with 25 of her wonderful soaps and 25 bottles of her incredible lotions.

I will leave a link up to this post until October 30th to allow you plenty of time to participate.  If you know of anyone who would like to add their message to Jessi and her friends, please send them here to comment. Let’s make sure Jessi and her friends know how much we appreciate their service.

And, Jessi a BIG THANK YOU. You are an inspiration to us all.

Oops…deleted my own comment.

A military wife for only 4 years, I haven't done the "hard" time, but I certainly have been surrounded by those who did.

I'm SO VERY THANKFUL for those soldiers who put it out there every day; I know first hand what my family's freedom costs American military families.

Great Idea!

Way to go, I'm all for supporting the troops. The sacrifice paid by members of the services and their families can never be repaid. We have to respect and appreciate them in hopes that somehow, this little thing strengthens their spirit.

Jessie, be safe and dream of a speedy return.

It is difficult for us at home to fully understand and appreciate the incredible sacrifice our Soldiers make by taking on the mountainous task of serving our country. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Soldier, for all that you do!

May the Lord make His face to shine upon you…to shine upon and be gracious… and be gracious unto you.

I do not take my freedom lightly. I am grateful for our service men and women, and the sacrifices that they, and their families, make to keep our country safe.

God Bless You now and always.

Thanks for the link. My daughter's friend is about to be deployed to Northern Iraq. We'll send him care packages through his Mom. But Operation Shoebox is a great organization. Definitely worth supporting!

Thank-you for this awesome support of our troops serving. I just found your blog and have spent the last hour at the Anysoldier web-site and you have inspired me to sign up to send a care package (or 2 or or…) to a very worthy recipient. Thank-you again and may God Bless each and everyone of our service-men & women who volunteer to protect us and the world around us.
