Introducing The Newest Addition

There’s a new resident on Red Pine Mountain; Cash, a 4 year old mini gelding. His owner decided she needed to place him for personal reasons and she was looking for a home where his fun loving nature would be appreciated and I was the lucky one selected.

He’s already hamming it up for the camera.

I put him in a stall for the night so he would feel safe and secure but lo and behold when I went out to the barn this morning, a certain Morgan mare had unlatched the door and let herself in and there they were. “No, Khrysta, you can’t have Cash.” And I took him to pasture with Tigger, Trey and Bliss.

The first meeting was auspicious and the donkeys were ready to adopt him as one of their own.

But Cash had other ideas and decided to chase my three tiny friends.

My gentle donkeys like to spend the day at a more leisurely pace so I removed Cash. A thankful Tigger, Trey and Bliss retreated to their stall exhausted from all their exertion.

“Yes, Khrysta, you have your friend back.”

Cash sniffed Khrysta.

Khrysta returned the favor.

They did some mutual grooming.

Then got busy grazing.

But even though they are great friends, they still come when I call.

So now I’m seeing spots everywhere.

And I think my small gang is happy and content.

It’s such fun reading ( and seeing ) about the escapades on Red Pine Mountain. It gives me a much needed, and happy, break from city life, traffic, and my own worries. It looks like your new addition adapted immediately to his new home, though he gave the little siblings more than they bargained for initially.

It’s great that Khrysta has a friend now, and even better that she still comes to you! My horse once declared a donkey was all his out of a herd of 25 horses, and he and she took off to be by themselves. It’s strange how that happens sometimes!

Great photos and I loved reading about Cash and all the others!

Wow! I did not know that miniatures came in leopard appaloosa color! He is adorable (he probably would not like that appellation, though) . Khrysta!….what a Houdini (or Copperfield). I love seeing pictures of your family and the gorgeous setting! Your vista’s are million dollar views!!! It really makes me want to go back to the Northern Kingdom!

What a fun bunch you have! I bet you spend more on your pets than for you and your husband! Animals are expensive! We just have the three, but it seems like their stuff goes so quick, we are buying food and treats all the time.

Isn’t true love grand! I look at my animals so many times and my heart is filled with joy! I love watching them with each other; how they care for another, play, and snooze together! Knowing they are happy and healthy fills my heart!
I know you feel the same! A woman after my own heart :)

MW, you are getting quite the menagerie of animals. I have to laugh every time you add to the pack. The addition always seems to fit in perfect somewhere. Thank you for keeping us up on the antics of all you animals. Isn’t it amazing how each one has his/her own personality? I have run the gambit for kids growing up pets. I’ve had dogs, cat, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, and last but not least aquarium fish. The last dog passed on five years ago and that’s it for me. Now my pets are the wild kind. Birds, rabbits, opossums, raccoons, squirrels, and neighbor’s dogs all frequent my yard strictly for what I believe is my entertainment. The beauty of it all is that when I have to be away for any length of time they all take care of themselves. I have to draw the line when the critters start inviting their relatives to buffet themselves on my garden. I have already seen where rabbits have nestled into the straw mulch in a couple places in the garden. Trying to maintain a garden can be a challenge at times but I still love to watch the wild life be wild and free.
