It’s a beautiful spring day. No rain falling, some sun shining. Just a gorgeous day to be alive and I thought I’d share it with you. We think the snow is finally gone. Time to take the snow chains off the tractors. Mountain Man contemplates the task.

And then gets to work.

Lilly watches from her sentry post in the yard.

Katie watches by the fence.

And Toby, well, he just tries to climb over the fence.

Mountain Man has started work again on our new kitchen cabinets. They are made from cherry wood.

But to me the most interesting pieces of wood are the ones with flaws.

When Mountain Man saw this piece of wood, he knew I would love it and he saved it for one of our projects. It’s flaw makes the color naturally green. I was blown away when I saw this piece of wood. I’d never seen anything like it. Have you?

I can’t wait to see our cabinets finished and installed.
And what have I been doing on such a beautiful spring day? Grooming horses and removing mounds of winter hair, cleaning out chicken coops and enjoying life. I hope you all have a fabulous Mother’s Day weekend and thanks for visiting us on our farm. I really can’t say enough how much Mountain Man and I both enjoy your comments and how much we appreciate the time you take to visit our blog.

Glad you finally have decent weather with sunshine and warmer temperatures! Cherry wood is my favorite kind!

Stopping by via the link on Karen’s page. I really enjoyed your pics. SO happy that spring has finally arrived here in Wisconsin, too!
The wood is gorgeous, and I’m impressed that Mountain Man knows what to do with it!

That is beautiful wood indeed. I just wanted to say hello. Although I now live in Tennessee, I grew up in Newport Center, VT. Small world.

Oh how amazingly green that spring grass is. It’s so vivid.
The cherry wood is gorgeous and can imagine it will make for some beautiful cabinets. The plank that Mountain Main put aside for you is very special indeed … what character it has. Funny how physical stress from drought, fire, flood etc can make wood all the more beautiful, much like people the hardships in one’s live can sometimes mold them into something stronger, more compassionate, understanding and just generally into a more beautiful person. Sometimes.
