Exciting Day

I wasn’t planning to post today but I just had to. Yes, it snowed all day yesterday but this morning was gorgeous. And as it is so often when I go outside on our farm, depending on where I look, the light is entirely different. Look one way and you see a gorgeous blue sky.

Look another and I see this.

And look another way and it’s entirely different.

Mornings in Vermont never cease to amaze me.
What a beautiful day it was as if winter spent its last fury yesterday. Logan and I stayed outside catching up on throwing his ball until time to do afternoon barn chores. When I entered the Poultry Palace, I was greeted with this.

Yes, a turkey egg!! But not just one turkey egg.

Still warm, straight from my hen’s body. I put them next to chicken eggs so you can get an idea of their size. They are back with my hen and she is sitting on them. I know it’s a long way from egg laying to hatching but I’m hoping soon we will hear the pitter patter of tiny poult feet on Red Pine Mountain Farm.
Just had to share because you’ve been with me on this journey with my turkeys.
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting us.

Congratulations on the potential baby turkeys! How long until they hatch?

Turkey eggs are so interesting. I have a couple of nearly intact wild turkey ones that a raccoon got.

Yeah, we went out for a little jaunt yesterday and my beloved Sandra’s sister, gazing out the passenger’s side, pipes up from the back seat about how cloudy and grey everything was getting just about the time I was getting to remark on the bright clear blue up over the ridge to the north.
Like the bumper sticker says, I LoVermont.

A whole new brood of chicks waiting to be hatched, my how your flock is about to grow. Keep this up and Mt. Man is going to have to build a much bigger Poultry Palace.

That’s exciting–baby turkeys coming your way! That’s a BIG egg! Looks like a dinosaur egg (I saw some at the zoo).

How cool! Have never seen a turkey egg, let alone baby turkey. Now, I know you are going to post pics when that egg hatches!
Oh, and as usual, love the scenery pictures!
