Mountain Man left before dawn for two weeks in the Ozarks. Instead of worrying about himself, he spent last night preparing individual dinners for me tagged with instructions on how to reheat them so I wouldn’t starve while he was away. Now I am alone on Red Pine Mountain. But I’m not lonely. I have 7 dogs, Khrysta and you to keep me company. So while I won’t get to experience the incomparable beauty of an Ozark fall, I’ll be able to take care of this mountain I dearly love and hopefully I won’t set anything on fire. Here’s what happened last time Mountain Man left:
In August, my son, his wife and their whippet, Jack, came to visit. I thought I’d continue today with more of our adventures.
If you love dogs and are in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, you absolutely MUST visit Dog Mountain owned by Stephen Huneck. Most of you are probably familiar with Mr. Huneck’s work. He creates fabulous doggie designs on t-shirts, rugs, mugs and more as well as amazing sculptures. He decided to dedicate a special place for dogs and their owners; hence Dog Mountain. Dog Mountain comprises many acres of hiking trails, an agility course, picnic areas and a wonderful gift shop but the best thing about dog mountain is the Dog Chapel. Stephen Huneck discusses it in depth on his website and you can learn more by clicking THIS LINK.
It’s a special place and I hope you enjoy my photos.
The views are incredible.

I LOVE this place! And, it sooooo reminds me of one of my all-time favorite children's books, Go Dog Go. So, with apologies to P.D. Eastman:
A dog party! A big dog party! Big dogs, little dogs, red dogs, blue dogs, yellow dogs, green dogs, black dogs, and white dogs are all at a dog party! What a dog party!

Great Doggy Heaven does exist! I know it just like kitty heaven. The interior of the walls of the chapel struck me. So many people LOVE their pets beyond words. I know how they feel.

Take care and enjoy the Fall colors for us. Dog Mountain looks like a great place to go, even if I don't have any dogs.
Oh, if you don't mind Red Pine Mountain becoming haunted, I would like to take you up on your offer of using it as a backdrop for my novel. If you know anything of the history of the area, I would greatly appreciate any information, because I could use that in the story.

Wow – what a fantastic place for all dog lovers!

This reminds me of how I wish I could keep a dog where I am. I miss having a dog around, but it wouldn't be fair to an animal right now. My last dog would love so much nature.

Oh wow!! That place looks really neat. That will have to go on the list of places I have to visit! Thanks for sharing!

Dog Mountain looks like a fascinating place. I'd love to have a dog (or cat) but it wouldn't be fair while I'm out at work.
It's thoughtful of mountain man to prepare your meals in advance. It makes the rest of us look bad!

I was reading about Stephen Huneck's place a few months ago…. one of those instances where one click led to another. I love his cards. Great pics you posted.
Hope you are doing well on your own… sounds like we are both in the same basket right now. My hubby is in WA state for the whole month! He did much around here the weekend before he left so I wouldn't have to worry about certain things, e.g., filling up all the vehicle tires with air if it was needed. Alas, my car had a flat last week, and I finally had the opportunity to learn how to use his monster air compressor! It was probably a good thing, albeit annoying.
Take care ~

Looks like a great place, and you can just feel the warmth of those summer days in the photos – how I long for them to return already. Let's hope there is no more flash fires while you're home alone. How thoughtful of MM to have all your meals ready to go while he's gone. What a sweetheart!
