Catching My Breath

We’ve been in a flurry of activity since we arrived home. As if renovating the Ozarks place wasn’t enough, Mountain Man has decided our house needs redoing (he’s right about that). He’s decided to divide the house into sections and the first to be done is our bathroom and bedroom which means we’re moving into the living room while he’s working and once again I’ll be living in a construction zone. But it’s worth it. I’m going to have Mountain Man made hardwood flooring (blue stain of course) and he’s designing my fantasy bathroom complete with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountain and a jacuzzi tub for two. And it is all possible because Mountain Man is doing all the work and making the majority of the materials. Otherwise no way could we afford it.
Anyway, we’ve been busy boxing up our possessions, sending lots of items to the Salvation Army (less is more as you age) and moving into the living room. Once again, Mountain Man is erecting a bed in the sky so we have enough floor space for dogs. In the midst of that confusion, Emma, one of our elderly goldens, needed to have growths on her eye removed. She’s resting comfortably after surgery and we’re hoping the biopsy will be benign.
While we’ve been occupied with the house, Khrysta has found a new place to sleep. She’s been enchanted with Mountain Man’s firewood processing station for a long time but now she has discovered it makes the perfect sleeping spot. Dozing off in the warm sun.
I haven’t been able to get out as much as I’d like. I’ve been busy nursing Emma and helping Mountain Man but as I walk to the barn at sunrise and sunset, I can’t help thinking that I’m blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The skies of the frozen Northeast Kingdom are ever changing in their hues and bring me as close to God as I’ll ever be here on earth.
Stay well and happy one and all and I’ll catch up with you as soon as Emma is a little further along in her recovery.

Truly a heaven on earth. I can't wait to see your new bedroom and dream bathroom (the windows sound HEAVENLY!!).
Have a great weekend, hope your dog is okay,

Ohhhh those windows sound wonderfu and you will love that jacuzzi. Yes, your area is a wonderful place to live. I think the "north country" whether it be VT or NY is truly home for me and obviously for you, too.

YEAH! A new room or two or three or four for you in Vermont. And big windows to see the world. I hate little windows and dark rooms, I do not really like curtains but find them a necessary evil. I am waiting for spring…I am tired of snow and bitter cold. We are starting to warm here and I am in heaven. I hate hate being trapped in darkness.

You do live in beautiful country. I wouldn't care for the snow, but I'd get used to it at some point. Maybe.
I hope Emma gets better soon and that the tests come back good. Saying a prayer.
Cool on the redo of your current home. You are very lucky to have such a talented husband.
Have a terrific day and weekend. Happy Valentine's day to you both.

Get well wishes to Emma!
The photos are beautiful! I love all the snow. We're still waiting to see if we get any here in Georgia.
Blue stained hardwood? Oooh, you MUST take pictures! That sounds divine!
Blessings to you this weekend,
Jen
PS: I love the little owl perched on your blog layout

I hope Emma gets better soon!
As soon as Mountain Man is done with your bathroom, he is more than welcome to come and do ours. We have always wanted a jacuzzi tub!
Those photos are just fantastic and they are an inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing them.

I understand about living in a construction zone also.
The renovations sound beautiful… the windows and especially the tub!
Your views and scenery are just breath taking.
Good luck with it all.
I have to go eat more snow ice cream now.Yep, we finally have snow. Lots of snow way down in the middle of Georgia!

I'm so glad you're back safely, but I'm also glad you're back posting photos of Vermont. The everchanging sky-scapes are spiritual and breathtaking.
My husband sent me a text message from work just today saying that we need to plan a "weekend up north" asap. As worn out as we get, that place will always fill us back up.

Your place is lovely to look at, but I don't think I could live with months of snow. Your skies are prettier than ours, but I still like the good ol' Pacific Northwest!
My sister lives in Hawaii and was glad to leave all the Seattle rain. Isn't it wonderful that we all don't want to live in the same place?

Your horse is proof that equines weather the snow just fine!!!
Hope doggie Emma is well soon.
