Bye Bye Lull

There are four seasons in Vermont I’ve learned. Snow, more snow, mud season and waiting for snow. And, I hope you’re not tired of snow pictures but I had to share. I couldn’t believe it. I woke up Friday morning and for the second weekend in a row, we had snow. But this wasn’t a gentle dusting, this was a real spring snowstorm dropping 7 inches in the higher mountains and 2 inches here on Red Pine Mountain.

This was what it looked like Friday morning and it just kept on falling.

I have to admit I didn’t go out except to do barn chores. Not even the thought of more pictures could drag me outside. No, the wind was howling and the temperature plummeted so I stayed right by the wood stove reading a good book while Mountain Man worked in his shop. Mountain Man told me it would happen. Why, because I washed and put away my winter coat. “Don’t do that until June.” he advised.

So there you have it. If you’re missing the cold weather, just put away your winter clothes and the snow will fall.

Any of you think you’d like to live in this frozen wilderness?

Wow! You really live on a mountain with all that snow all year around. And I thought northern Ohio was snowy :) Hope you had a great weekend!

I wouldn’t mind your summers, but this is awful, it should be Spring by now for a gardener like me … but the pictures are wonderful of course :)

Here I sit in 60 degree weather, complaining about the cold. Shame on me.

Mud season – I’ve heard that so many times from my sister in your neighboring New Hampshire. A couple of years ago, we went for my nephew’s wedding in Franconia, NH, in July. It was cool; everybody had on sweaters and jackets for the outdoor wedding. One day my sister took us up on the mountaintop, and it was 32 degrees up there!

But your snow sure makes for gorgeous pictures!

That is New England weather for ya. The farther north you go the crazier it can be,
And I never get tired of looking at your pictures and your farm, I am as envious as you can imagine.

Living in California I am not used to seeing snow at all even in Winter. Though I do not know what it’s like having to live with snow like this all I can say is these shots are beautiful to me :)

I can say that I wouldn’t mind living in your paradise. Right now, we have 70 degree weather and sunny, but tomorrow it’s supposed to drop 20 degrees and be rainy. So much for Spring.

I live on a mountain in New Mexico near the Continental Divide. Two years ago on June 5th we had big snow storm. Last year our last snow of the spring was in May and this year we have a snow storm predicted for later this week. Let me tell you, I sure know what you are going through.

Oh, I would not like this very much! We finally have spring here, with lovely flowers and colors popping up everywhere. It makes the spirit soar when you have spring and warm sunshine. I hope it comes to you soon.

I’m north of you, but happily haven’t seen any snow….since February I think….was none in March or since either. I don’t think I would plant any tomatoes outside until the 1st of June….ask Mountain Man.

“Any of you think you’d like to live in this frozen wilderness”?
yes :) ……..as long as we get a hot looooong summer

I know I couldn’t adjust very easily to snow. We see it about every 10 years down here. Enough to cover the ground that is.

It is sure is pretty in your pictures though.
Have a great (and warm) day.

Fortunately we just got rain Friday and Saturday – along with fog so dense you couldn’t see 300 feet in front of you! We’ve had snow in late May so I know we could still get it, but I do love the sound of rain pattering on the skylights!

We had snow this year for the first time since 1978, and loved it. It definitely looks beautiful, but I hear you, you have had enough of it. Kind of like us down here with the heat and humidity-our seasons are hot, way too hot, waiting for hot, and still hot.
By the way, the cookies came in the mail last weekend. So so good! We enjoyed ours and the animals feasted on theirs. Thank you again.
