Bucolic, Pastoral Vermont

I treasure all your comments and they are the highlight of my day. After reading Lin’s comment about turkey porn, I thought I thought I’d quickly put up another post of pastoral farm scenes free of amorous toms to erase previous images from your mind. And, I must admit, after Ethelmae said “I bet he was thinking of you the whole time,” I had some serious image erasing to do as well. I guess being a city girl/woman who thought turkeys came from a Butterball wrapper, I’m always astonished at real farm life. Mountain Man tells me my enthusiasm sometimes goes overboard but hey, you only have one life and you might as well live it with gusto.
Anyway, on to the bucolic part. It snowed yesterday. Eight inches of the white stuff. I knew it would.
“What are you doing?” Mountain Man asked me last week as I was busily packing boxes.
“Putting away my heavy winter clothes. Won’t need them any more.” Goodbye winter boots, hello mud boots, goodbye awful Smart Wool (nothing smart about the stuff cause it itches like crazy), hello cotton. You get the idea.
“Don’t do that. Don’t you remember what I told you. Tax day, tax day. It won’t change until April 15th. It’s still winter here.”
“Oh, Mountain Man don’t spoil my fun.”
But he was right. One day of sunshine, a couple of days above freezing and that was it. We’re frozen and snowed under again. And for all of you who are enjoying springtime flowers, birds and warm air, this is for you.
Yes, it’s beautiful.

But horses wonder if it’s ever going to end.

The clouds are low once again.

They surround us.

Winter everywhere you look.

I take the donkeys for a brief walk but no sunshine anywhere.

We are cocooned in snow and silence.

Oh, well. At least the mud has frozen and we are free to travel to the grocery store once again.
Thanks everyone for visiting us. I hope I’ve managed to erase my amorous tom from your mind but if you are looking for a hilarious read on the sticking (yes, sticking) power of feminine products then visit EthelMae’s latest blog entry.

I am really glad it doesn’t snow here. I can’t imagine careening down the hills of San Francisco! It’s bad enough when there is a runaway cable car!

You were not kidding when you said you still had a lot of snow. I love that last picture.

I enjoy the snow through your lens. That’s good enough for me.
Have a terrific day and listen to Mountain Man. He’s seems to have this winter thing down.

A winter wonderland, again ! Well at least you had a small break in the gray clouds and snow. Though the sunny days were short lived hopefully they helped to recharge your batteries enough to get you through until April 15th…have my fingers crossed that it will be sooner.

I complain about the few inches that we seem to get about every few days but I have to say that I would rather just get a few rather than eight! You poor thing. I feel for you, because I am so sick of snow and the color white!

Sara, Spring is definitely here in Nebraska. Today it was wonderful to be out doing yard work and smelling spring in the air. That terrific warm moist earthy smell permeated everything. I thoroughly enjoyed as soon enough the moist warm air with turn hot and humid. I scratched around in the garden just a bit but it’s still too soon for planting anything but the very early stuff. I hope your snow goes away soon and the mud dries up even quicker.
Have a great snow again day.

Too cute! We always have snow in between J’s b-day which is today and mine, April 1. But, this year I am not so sure. Spring has arrived early here. 82 degrees today. I will and try to send a little your way

I sure hope you stock up when you finally make it to the grocery store! I was wondering how you were set on food when you’ve been snowed in so long!

The snow is lovely when its not blowing at 45mph. We are under weather advisories again. UGH
Stay warm.

Yikes! If it helps, we’re getting snow right this minute here in Western Mass…maybe 4 inches or so. Oh well…it can’t last too long!

…can it??!!

Well I need to find some Florida blogs, looking at your pictures is like well looking out my window. I think they said spring would be here at the end of May but there is a contingent “it can snow anytime ” clause . Be well ; )

Don’t worry – this is just winter saying good-bye! He will soon be nothing but a memory!

Don’t you just hate it when men are right?
Oh well, you sure got some beautiful pictures out of your sunless snowy day. We had such beautifully warm weather here for a week, and now it’s back to freezing – thank goodness, no snow!
Thanks so much for the link, and guess what? I DID win Post of the Week for “No Boys Allowed”! And to think I almost didn’t even put that one up because of the subject matter!
Think spring!

Forget spring. It’s been in the 80s. Here comes the extreme heat and humidity!

Wow! That much snow would really get to me! My crocuses are already finished blooming and the hyacinths have been up for at least a week. The tulips will be blooming in another week or so. The lawn already needs mowing!
