Bird On A Wire

It’s morning, you open your eyes, smell the aroma of your automatic coffee starting to brew. You glance at the still sleeping dogs and sigh contentedly at the wonderful sounds of a Mountain Man gently snoring. Ah, life is good. You decide to grab a few more minutes of rest and your eyes are starting to close when you hear THUD!

The dogs jump up wide eyed from their beds and you turn to Mountain Man and say “Honey, I think the roof must be falling in. We’d better make a run for it.” Your Mountain Man, still half asleep, grunts and you know you are left to face the challenge by yourself. Can you cope? What could it be?

You pull on your boots but forget your gloves and hat and head out to see if the roof really is falling but it’s not the roof. It’s this

It’s not their fault really. They’ve been lonely. Subzero weather meant no lingering visits to the Poultry Palace nor did they want to wander far from their comfy nests but this morning, they’d had enough and unfortunately, they know where we live.

And being ever so considerate, they did try to be quiet and their plan was to traverse the telephone lines to our home.

But when that proved too much trouble, they decided to fly and let me tell you when they land, it really does sound as though the roof is falling. But one lone guinea was stranded.

Around and around the pole she went. I was afraid I’d be going up there to rescue her.

But the others cheered her on.

Until she finally made it.

All’s well again on Red Pine Mountain. I got my coffee, the turkeys and guineas got attention and are now busy helping Mountain Man process more firewood. But I have a sneaking suspicion if I were to run into Jeff Foxworthy, he might say you just might be a redneck if you have turkeys on your roof and guineas swinging on your phone lines.

Thanks for visiting us. I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

This cracks me up. Glad you didn’t have to go up there and rescue that last one! Don’t they live in a coop of some sort by the barn?

They won’t freeze in that weather?? Can you make them stay inside? What is your temp at the time of morning? Makes me shiver just looking at them!

LOL that was cute! Funny how they fly up on the lines and then walk over….I didn’t realize turkey’s and guineas could fly that well. Very interesting and makes me realize that if we were to get guineas that they could fly over the fence and then our Shep would get them. Sure don’t need that to happen. I may have to rethink that idea. Thanks for the fun post…still sounds like a nice way to wake up in the morning ;) Enjoy your Sunday.

Do these goofs ever let us down?? Nope. Again, your flock of sillies has cracked me up. When are you gonna let them in the house?

Well, I don’t know if I’d be so cheerful if my nice comfy, warm sleep were interrupted by turkeys and guineas flying over to my roof and making it sound like it all was going to collapse on me. You are such a wonderful turkey mama.
