Before I Take My Holiday Break

It’s my holiday tradition to take a blogging break from Christmas through the New Year. But before I say goodbye, I’ll leave you with some of my favorite pictures from the past few days.
Elderly Golden Retrievers sit outside and enjoy the snow while a normally rambunctious German Shepherd stays quietly by their side. Protective, gentle. Dogs just know.

The light this time of year is magical. Dawn sometimes arrives and it looks like this

And you know this hint of light is all the sun you’ll see for the day

Doesn’t matter about the cold. Mountain Man’s hard work means there is plenty of warmth.

But just as soon as you doubt the sun will ever shine again, the next day dawns.

Even the animals sense the change and they come to insist you spend the day with them.

And just maybe you’re the only person in the world who takes her turkeys for a walk; but you do.

And when you decide to sit on a firewood log and bask in the sunshine and enjoy the view, you have company.

And although they wonder why you decided to stop on this giant log.

They trust you enough to follow you anywhere even if it means walking the plank.

I guess it’s part of the magic here. From pink skies

To dark days.

Merry Christmas

from our farm to your home. Thank you for being a part of our lives. We wish one and all of you a most joyous holiday.

Wondering if you have room on those mountains for a small family from Oklahoma?! I always enjoy your posts (including pictures) and dream of living beside you. Merry Christmas to your family…and God bless!

Your beautiful words and photography have meant so much to me in this difficult year almost over. I am praying the next year will be better but, regardless, I look forward to your blog to always lift my spirits and to give me a picture of a life that is far removed from the hustle and bustle of a city that I love but is so lovely and peaceful and serene. It may have its own difficulties, I’m sure, but you see the best of everything, I believe.
Blessings to you in the year to come – and forever.
