Itch, itch, itch, scratch, scratch, scratch. That has been the rhythm of my life these past few days but thanks to you, I’ve been enjoying myself immensely. Your chigger stories have let me know I have company in my misery and your remedies have proved particularly helpful to me and others. I’ve learned what parts of the country seem to be infested by these critters and I’ve learned that some of you have the good fortune to never have met a chigger. I’ve even learned that chiggers can enter the house through flowers! And while I’ve been reading your comments, I’ve been reflecting on how rich my life is because of you. And it is because of all of you I now have another opportunity.
I was going to keep it a secret but I’ve never been able to hold back good news so here’s the scoop. I’m going to be blogging about life on Red Pine Mountain for Grit Magazine. Grit Magazine is one of my all time favorite magazines devoted to rural life. Their articles run the gamut from recipes to gardening to animal care. The writing is lively and interesting and I always come away with new ideas. In fact, their recent article on the emergence of water buffaloes on U.S. farms found me expressing my desire to Mountain Man to add these unique creatures to our ever growing menagerie. Okay, I admit, he’s not exactly convinced yet but I’m not giving up.
I’ve sent my first blog article to Grit Magazine and I’ll post the link when it appears. I thank all of you for this opportunity because it is your support, through following my blog, through your wonderful comments and your kind emails that have kept me blogging.
Now, we’ll just have to sit back and wait and see what happens.
Will Mountain Man turn rural American men into apron wearing loggers?
Will Khrysta inspire horses to follow their musical ambitions?
Will Logan master the secret of cutting wood?
Life, isn’t it amazing?

Wow! How exciting to have that opportunity to write for a magazine that you love. How cool is that??! Good for you. You and that apron-wearing mountain man deserve the best!

Oh yes, chiggers! We do have those down here too. They get in the worse spots, don't they?
Congratulations on the Grit Magazine blogging! I can't wait to see it.
I love Khrysta blowing her horn. I always had this thought of Jack (the donkey) painting masterpieces.LOL…
The picture of Mountain Man in the apron is wonderful. I don't think I can get my FarmMan in one though. Maybe in one of my feedbag aprons, just maybe??
I am sure Logan will be happy to supervise cutting wood.
Have a great day.

Congrats on that magazine opportunity–awesome! I'm sure you'll be a great contributor. I seriously doubt if Mountain Man's apron fashion will catch on and I'd be truly amazed if Logan learns logging, no matter how much he observes.
Water Buffalo? Are you serious?

Congratulations on writing for Grit Magazine. I'd like it better, I think, if it were Grits Magazine, being a GA girl, originally – of course, living here in San Francisco, I've had to educate people on how to properly prepare grits…and I throw up my hands in horror when someone puts sugar and raisins on them. Good grief!
