A Mountain Man Original; Ranch For Sale

Hi everyone. I don’t have much to say at the moment and I don’t really feel like blogging. For every day of nice weather we experience, we have two or more days of terrible weather and I’m still suffering the winter time blues. Several events converged in my life at one time causing me to rethink things and to find my balance once again. Thank you Karen for sharing your wisdom. But my muse is missing for the moment and I’m not inspired to post at all. So today, I’ll post an ad.

If you followed my blog from the beginning or if you were with me for the winter of 2009-2010 then you are familiar with our experience in the Ozarks. You lived with me as bugs crawled out of walls, as showers rained rocks on my head and as the floor shook with every step. What an adventure it was. But the time has come for us to close that chapter of our lives and move on to other endeavors and we are offering Circling Hawk Ranch for sale.

It’s not all the way finished but purchase it now and you can have it finished by Mountain Man to your specifications and, of course, you’ll be the only person in the Ozarks to have our Red Pine Mountain wood in your home. And you’ll know the story behind each piece of wood; how Mountain Man logged it and shaped it and transported it to the Ozarks to turn it into something special. Well, enough of my sales pitch. Here’s the photos from the listing.

Remember, it’s still a work in progress. Here’s the renovated outside. The grain of the wood can’t be seen in this picture but it is lovely.

And the view from the back of the house.

And the kitchen. Mountain Man made all the cabinets and drawers and counter tops and flooring. You won’t be able to buy this kind of craftsmanship at a big box store and unless you are extremely wealthy, you won’t be able to afford to have Vermont wood (so different from Ozark wood) to be handcrafted and transported to your house.

Again, handcrafted cabinets in the bathroom as well and all the trim around the windows is made from our Red Pine Mountain woods.

All the rooms have been reconfigured to add space. New windows throughout and, of course, beautiful hand made hardwood flooring. And if you listen carefully, perhaps you will hear the echoes of my groans as I helped Mountain Man hang sheet rock on the ceilings.

It’s come a long way since it looked like this. And although I hefted a piece of sheet rock now and then, Mountain Man has done all the work himself, by himself, to his exacting standards.

There you have my ad and my plug for the incredible Mountain Man but if you were reading my blog back then you know what we went through. So many memories, so much hard work has gone into getting this ranch ready for someone else. And no, we never planned to keep this ranch. Our thought was to preserve it from certain decay and then resell it.

If you’re interested, you can see the listing here.

Thanks for visiting us. I may be back with a post tomorrow or it maybe be a while. I don’t have the answer to that but I do know life is a journey filled with ups and downs and lessons to be learned. Savor each day you have and remember to give thanks.

Hi from CT. I hope you get some nice sunny warm weather soon, we are getting warmer here but April showers, I just want it to be 80 and sunny all the time!
I did follow your story of when you packed up the whole crew and went to the Ozarks. I don’t comment much but I sure enjoy reading your blog on my lunch breaks at work. My sister used to go to the Ozarks with her friends to ride horses. Did your Mt. man come from the ozarks and move to VT to be with you? He is so talented with the wood work that he does.

60 acres with a 2 bedroom, 1 bath home for 200K? You couldn’t buy much in California for 200K. Wow. Love all that wood.

I hope you feel better soon. :)

Is there something I can help you with? I know the weather can play havoc with MY moods, so I’m hoping spring is here to stay any day now for you.
I forgot to comment yesterday that it seemed so strange to see your farm still covered in snow, when everything here is green and we’ve had the doors open for the dogs to run in and out.
If I had a notion to live in the Ozarks, I’d snap that house up in a minute – not only is the price great for that much land, PLUS a house, but I DID follow you back then, and I remember how much of himself Mountain Man put into that house – just like he does in all projects. Anyone should be proud to have anything that Mountain Man has crafted.
I think I’ve mentioned to you before that my sister is in neighboring Hew Hampshire. She and her husband are what you’d call “naturalists,” I suppose, and they’re currently renovating an old farmhouse. Woody built his own home in the White Mountains ages ago, built it around a huge ROCK, but now they’re on a farm and loving it. I’m sending them a link to your blog.

Oh, pally, I am sad that YOU are sad. :( I need to pack up some sunshine and warm and mail it to you. It does lift your spirits so.

That said, when times are tough and you don’t feel like finding good–that is when you must. Find something, anything, that is good in the day and cling to it. Even if it is just the fact that a very handsome tom loves ya to death–it is GOOD to know somebody does, right? Some folks don’t even have that.

Know that we care and miss ya when you are blue. Hang in there, my friend.

I remember all those trials, but what a fantastic outcome. I think I will buy a lottery ticket tomorrow and see if I can buy it. I love, love, love wood and Mtn. Man did such a fantastic job. And the acreage would be perfect for Calypso and I? I just don’t know if he will ever want to travel again. Oh and my kids too. But hey, with 60 acres, I’ll build them their own houses. That nearby lake looks beautiful and I do like to fish!

What a bargain! Comparable farms here in Washington cost $500,000 to $700,000! And they’re not that close to a lake!
That house looks nothing like it did before! Mountain Man is one amazing craftsman. Whoever buys that house is going to be one lucky family!

It is hard to imagine what the mountain will be like without you on it. You and Mountain Man have done so much work and the place looks marvelous, hope that whoever buys it will have the passion that you and your wonderful mate had for such a gorgeous piece of Earthly paradise.

This winter has been brutal to our neighbors in the north. Unrelenting, it’s been the winter that refused to go away. But every cloud has it’s silver lining and I pray that you’ll start seeing some shiny bright and happy days very, very soon.

As for blogging, well we all need a break once in a while. We need time to recharge our batteries, refresh our spirits and get that old creative muse awake and running again. Take some time for yourself, maybe take a little trip and get away from it all, even if it’s only for a day or two.

Until you’re up to it, take care…you’ll be in our thoughts. :)

The home is filled with such beautiful craftsmanship. I don’t know if people are aware of such quality. I do hope it sells and is purchased by someone who appreciates the value of what they are getting it and who will cherish and love it.

May those warm sunny days come in earnest. I know it’s been a long hard winter.

I’m blaming it on the full moon tonight, the 17th of April. I’m not depressed as much as totally overwhelmed and worried about coming out from under.
The Ozark home is lovely with great promise; I wish you well in selling it quickly at a price you want. You’ll be tucked into prayer tonight; feel better soon.

I’d love to have your Ozarks ranch as our second home. How perfect. Only about 4 or so hours away from our home.. and we love that area. It’s a steal! Best of luck – and I will spread the word to anyone who’d be interested. My sister still has that small property in our neck of the woods if you’d be interested in central-ish MO :) It’s listed on the sidebar of my blog – definitely a fixer-upper but it’s a perfect deal for someone who can DIY and would also like to have a tiny hobby farm.

Too bad we don’t live in Missouri! I think you have it priced very well – you can barely buy 30 acres of raw land here for that price! I hope it sells quickly for you. Such fabulous handwork went into it – love all of it!

What a beautiful place at a fantastic price! The pictures on your real estate listing don’t show that beautiful craftsmanship by your husband. For that kind of quality and that amount of acres, it should be flying off the shelf. I get a lot of action from Land and Farm. Do you advertise on there?
