Gone is the weekend snow, gone too the cold weather, not yet here is the next predicted snow storm. It’s a rare, warm day and the perfect day to spend outside.
Mountain Man has been busy gathering fallen trees for our firewood.

He splits them with his wood splitter and then stacks the logs into pallets he’s made. The pallets make it easier to move the logs to our outdoor boiler. (And, as always, he’ll come in and make dinner.)

But me, well, I’m off to hike in the woods and this time KT-Whippet and Toby are my companions.
Sorry Khrysta, you can’t come.

There are buds appearing on the trees.

The water for our farm comes straight from this mountain stream.

Trees reach for the sky.

Toby decides to sit in a puddle and then he shakes!

KT-Whippet does not care to get wet.

We saw a very odd tree.

Then we headed home.

That was our day. How was yours?

Absolutely wonderful. I am so happy that spring is finally here. We have been enjoying long walks, playing on the swings and have been planning our garden!

Your day was far more exciting than mine. I spent all morning getting the invites ready for mailing this afternoon for our next yacht club function. Then I had my teeth cleaned and on the way home I stopped at the store for milk, salad makings and fresh veggies. Now I’m off to the post office to mail the invites. I want to come to your house and go for a hike.
Have a terrific day.

Your photos are beautiful!
My husband and I are headed up to Greensboro for a three-day weekend, leaving tomorrow. I fear that we’re leaving the sunny, warm(ish) weather here for a bit of a chill up yonder!

Red Pine family, it sounds like you had a very nice day!
Sandee, yours sounds nice, too! All except for the teeth cleaning! LOL
Carol, I’m in Winston-Salem, a bike ride away from Greensboro. Our weather has been in the mid 70′s! Personally, I don’t think you can ask for better weather!
All in all, a great day!
And thanks for hosting my EntreCard today!

Not as beautiful as yours!! I did see my frogs come out to sun themselves by the pond though. That is always a treat for me.

Lovely place to be able to spend your days

You live in such a beautiful place. Do you check the dogs for ticks after a walk. My husband, now ex, came home from hunting one time and I found a tick on me. He removed it. I thought it was a fat mole on the back of my upper thigh. Gross! I would worry about Lyme disease. Great pics of your nature hike.

Hello Mountain Woman! What a wonderful place to live….I LOVE the isolation …the peace and quiet and best of all are the rolling hills. Are they REALLY predicting snow for you again?…I hope they’re wrong! Have a wonderful Thursday…..Maura

What wonderful photos! I particularly like the one of the sunlight streaming through the trees. And that weird tree IS weird…looks like it may have been diseased at one point.
Down here in Tennessee, we jumped straight from winter to summer. It’s been in the mid 80′s all week. All the trees bloomed at the same time – making allergies AWFUL. And tonight I even saw lightning bugs in the yard! And it’s only April 14th!

Oh, my. My husband would love your “odd tree”. He turns bowls(and other stuff) out of wood and odd shapes like that make his day.

I get tired just hearing about all the stuff mountain man is doing. If I had half his energy I would be doing fine.

I wonder what made that tree such an odd one? Very cool. As always, your pictures show the beauty of where you are. Thanks for making me not have to click next to read the rest of the posts. I am very lazy!

I am ready to get away from the computer and the laundry room!! I would love to trot along with you!!

My day was okay, but I like yours better!

What a nice walk, I wish I could stroll along with you! You live in a nice spot to appreciate nature, how lucky you are!
Mountain Man could make a set of really nice wooden salad bowls with the burls on that tree, you might want to add that to your wish list… lol.

What a beautiful day you had…and you don’t even have to head in and fix dinner. Not bad at all. Seems like you are pretty blessed in your neck of the woods!
As for your whippet not wanting to get wet..can’t blame him. There isn’t too much fur on him to keep him warm!

The odd tree is diseased. I can’t remember the name but think the tree is an elm and they are all, slowly, getting this disease. I see this a lot in our southern Appalachian Mountains.
